Today my doctor prescribed this for a muscular strain. Has anyone taken this? She mentioned that it might make me dizzy or drowsy. Oh, great! Does it really effect people that much? I'm a little klutzy to begin with and certainly don't want anything that's going to make me worse in that respect. But I guess what's important is whether it helps. How long before I might expect to feel any better (I hope)?

It is a muscle relaxant and an anti-inflammatory. Depending on your metabolism, it will give you what I call, Jelly Legs.. LOL

Ive used it with minimal side effects. Those I have had were drowsy, and the ability to lay down anywhere and sleep. lol

Do not drive or operate machinery, take alcohol

I was on it up until my surgery on 9/20. It never made me dizzy or drowsy.

As for feeling better I'm not sure if you mean from your condition or from taking the meds.

If you mean relief with the meds...Within a half an hour the meds kicked in and I could move.

I use it for my back, my older dd is using it for her colon spasms.

I only take it at night because it puts me right to sleep.

IME, that's an understatement. Flexeril knocks me flat on my tush; I can sleep for days on it.

Remember the bride in Sixteen Candles? That would be what I look like when I take Flexeril. It does what it is supposed to do, IMO, but you probably won't be good for very much while it does it.

Its side effects vary greatly from person to person. My big husband has all the dizzy, sleepy, jelly leg, drunk next morning feelings. I'm much smaller and can handle it just fine with the desired effects only. I suggest to take it at bedtime. :thumbsup2

It works even better when combined with some advil.

I don't believe thats true. Cyclobenzaprine does not have any anti-inflammatory chemical properties. Some say it is as effective as taking one but I think thats debatable.

I took it for a pinched nerve in my neck and if I recall, I was pretty much out after taking it.

My husband took it once. He was pretty much useless! He sat in his recliner and slept and was barely functional!

I took it a few months later and was terrified. But. It did absolutely NOTHING to OR for me. So, it just depends!

I didn't like taking this medicine at all. It made me very dizzy.

I took it for my back years ago. well actually it was given to me in the hospital and DANG, i was really really relaxed and was probably drooling on myself.

I took it for a short time for my neck muscle issues. I took it at night and only when I knew I had a good solid 8 hours to sleep. I never felt too off but likely slept through the side effects (if I had any).

I've had Flexeril for muscle/back spasms. When I take it, I'm out and snoozing within an hour. I often feel drunk the next morning after waking up. I can't take it and work, I can only take it at night.

But, no other medication helped with my spasms like Flexeril did.

I guess it just depends. I have been on and off it for over 2 years now and it barely effects me at all. I felt a little tired/relaxed the first few times I took it, but adjusted to it fairly quickly. The only way to know for sure is to take it. Try it in the evening after dinner. :thumbsup2

It turns my sister into a useless puddle of jelly. It doesn't touch me in any way and I find it useless.

I usually over-respond to medications (give me a Benadryl and I'm asleep in minutes) but I love Flexeril! I took it years ago for atypical fascial pain and my goodness - I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Not only did my pain almost go away, but I felt like the weight of the world had been taken off my shoulders. That's how I realized that my pain was stress related.

I didn't take it often but I only remember being sligthly more tired than usual and I chalked up any sleepiness to my awesome relaxation.

Me? When I've had to use it, a little drowsy..

DD - for her back injuries? Out cold.. Don't even bother trying to wake her up..

Like most medications, each person reacts differently..

Hope you feel better soon..:)

DH took it once. It knocked him out but at some point he got up to use the bathroom. It seemed like it was taking him longer than usual so I went to check on him. He was laying on the bathroom floor. I ran in there and when I yelled his name he looked up at me and said, Mommy!

I don't tell DH what he can and can't do with most things but I have banned him from ever using that drug again. :lmao:

Sorry, but I couldn't help chuckling over that one..

You're right - no flexeril for your DH..;)
