Flexeril anyone?

I took it for back spasms and it made me so relaxed I felt like I could melt into a puddle.

I was sitting in a staff meeting and literally slid out of my chair. My boss commented and I made a shushing motion and told him he was harshing my mellow. He still likes to remind me of that.

After that day I only took it at night because it made me so sleepy. I made the mistake of taking it during the day once, took a 5 hour nap and apparently took a phone call from a friend. She thought I was drunk. Nope just high.

But your mileage may vary.

Flexeril comes in a variety of strengths, so unless you know the dosage and the body weight of the person taking it, it really is useless to try and compare experiences. It is a muscle relaxant, so it'll relax your muscles. I am 5'6" and on the larger side, and when I take the 5mg dose, I feel fine; not sleepy or drowsy, but it helps my tight muscle. When I take the 10 mg dose, I am pretty withdrawn; I feel like I am sitting back and watching everything happen around me. I also like to sleep, and it sure takes care of my back spasms! DD18 takes the 5mg dose for her back spasms and knows she's gonna spend the next four to six hours out like a light; she's never taken a 10 mg dose. I would not recommend driving when you take flexeril, especially until you know how it'll effect you.

I was given Flexeril after a car accident about ten years ago.

I was flat on my back like I was in a coma! I don't drink or take any drugs so I guess my resistance is very low but it made me so groggy I was useless.

I fully admit that flexeril adn I have a love hate relationship. It is magic for me but it makes me useless if I take it. It is one of the only muscle relaxants that seems to work for me. I've been on it as needed for a year. I was put on it originally after my brain surgery in June of 2010. I am still on it as needed because of my neck stiffness from the surgery and because if my back from 2 car accidents.

I ONLY take it if I don't have anything important that day or the next day. If I take it at night, I can't drive the next day. I usually only take it now on days that I go to the gym.

But it knocks me out and has lingering effects for probably another 12 hours or so after I wake up.

I was on it about a year ago when I pulled a muscle in my side. The first few days I was on it, it knocked me out cold. Gradually it got better and it helped me out.

OMG! I literally laughed out loud when I read that, haha! That's unreal and how hilarious your boss still reminds you of that. So funny!

Hopefully it gets better for me too becaue it did knock me out yesterday, the first day I took it. But at least I didn't shush anyone for "harshing my mellow".

Is the strain localized? Maybe he could prescribe the flexerile patch instead of the oral medication. I had a prescription for those for back issues. They cost a fortune so I never got it filled. :(

I hurt my shoulder about 6 weeks ago, and this was prescribed. I actually didn't take it for a few day (I started feeling better on my own). I took it about midnight or so, before going to bed. I was still comatose a good chunk of the next day! I haven't taken another pill since then.

Totally varies based on your metabolism. It doesn't knock me out at all, but then again neither does Vicodin, which I'm currently taking.
