Flex Pay and when pass considered active?

I'm looking at getting annual passes and was reading the fine print for the flex pay. It says it automatically renews and charges your card month to month at the end of the pay period. However, I don't want to activate my pass until August. On the phone they told me that with the flex pay you would start your renewal at the time you started the contact. So since it automatically renews they will start charging you again in January, that it's based on the purchase date and not the activation date. They then told me that yes the pass would be good August to August but if I didn't renew in January (when first purchased) that I wouldn't be allowed to renew the following August. I thought renewals were usually cheaper than buying the tickets "new" and had thought to renew but if they're going to start charging me the renewal in January and then not allow me to renew in August that just doesn't make any sense. Does anybody out there know for sure how this all works?

I am on the flex pay- the contract starts when you activate the pass- not when you purchased. I bought my in November (made down payment) but did not go to the parks until Dec 17. Thats when my contract started.

Renewals are not cheaper on the flex pay. You have to cancel your flex pay and buy the AP outright the second year in order to get the discount on the renewal.

Strangely I had a different experience.

I bought my pass through flexpay a few months ago after checking and being told it would not activate until first use. However it actually activated straight away and I had to do a lot of emailing and phoning to rectify the situation.

Eventually they added 7 months extra to the end of my pass run time so that it would last for a year after I first use it in late Jan then cancelled the auto renew so tat I could benefit from the 7 months without still paying for the flexpay.

They suggested only buying just before I intended to use it to avoid the issue in future...

It used to work that your payments started as soon as you purchased but the pass wasn't activated until first use. So you could be paying from Jan - Jan but your pass is good from July - July.

As I mentioned for me this didn't happen, however they did make it right so maybe my bad experience shouldn't put the OP off.

How do you know it activated right away? When you actually got it was the activation date listed as the date you purchased?

At this point I can't remember exactly how I spotted it (I'd have to go back and check the emails, it was in June) but I know I spotted something 'hinky', emailed them and they confirmed that it was active and apologised.

Like I said though, it all turned out ok as they comped an extra 7 months onto the pass so it'll be a year once I collect in 2 weeks.
