Fleas in carpet....ugh

I treated the kitties, now I need to treat the house! Help!

Any really good tricks for this? I had a big container of Fleabusters powder that worked wonders a few years back but I'm out of it and it's FORTY DOLLARS! Petsmart and Petco sell other products that are between $9 and $15. Has anybody tried any good ones that you can recommend?

I had this problem a few years ago. Borax that you find in the laundry aisle of the grocery store works great! It is cheap too! I just sprinkled it all over my carpet, furniture and even in the cracks of my wood floor and vacuumed it up after a little while. I think I did it a few times and it took care of the fleas.

if you use a pest service to control roaches and spiders andstuff we hate bugs, spray every three months) they will ussually add flea service for a few dollars more ( $10.00 at ours)

Your going to need to get some room foggers. They are very cheap and work well. Just make sure all the kitties and their food are in another closed off room when you set off the fogger. You have to leave the house for 4 hours and then vent the room when you get back for 30 minutes. They work great! Good Luck!

we had to use room foggers too. We had tried several other methods and the foggers were the only one that worked, good luck!!

Definitely try the Borax that was previously suggested. Works GREAT, is cheap and makes the entire house smell fresh! I'll admit my dumb mistake......worked soooo well inside that I got the bright idea to use in a small area outside where dog liked to play. Killed the grass overnight! Inside use only!

Put mothballs in your vacuum bag- it will kill the fleas that you vacuum up and prevent them from escaping and reinfesting. Exterminator gave me that tip.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone! I did use foggers before, but heard they're dangerous around gas appliances. Since I don't know how to unlight and relight the light, I think I'll do without that! Also, ever tried to get FOUR cats out of a house at the same time???

I WILL try the Borax, though! I remember it worked wonders with my ant problem and I do have some around, so it's cheap!

I remember hearing about the mothball suggestion, too! Great idea because those little buggers reproduce in your bag!

Again, there is NOTHING I can't learn on this board!

I never heard about the mothballs in the vacumn bag, I always used a flea collar in mine. Then I disposed of the bag after each use, and made sure it went right outside. I also used a night light with a pan of soapy water under it every night. Each morning, it would be full of dead fleas. I figured a dead flea isn't laying eggs so that would help.
