This is the kind of thing I struggle with when eating out in the US. In the UK in the majority of restaurants the price listed on the menu is the final price. No additional fees, service charge, gratuity, taxes, etc are expected, though some restaurants are now trying to sneak in a service charge, which I don’t agree with. We often find when eating in the US that the final cost of the meal for our family is $50 or more higher than listed on the menu. I don’t think restaurants should be adding on extra charges - just build in all the operational costs to the menu prices.
