Ok...I know Chi flat irons are awesome. What is another one that is more reasonbly priced? TIA

My DD loves the Revlon one that she got at Ulta a few years ago. It was very cheap. My other DD needs a new one so I went and got her the Revlon one that they have on sale now. It's only $9.99 and I had a coupon for $3.50 off of a $10.00 purchase. The Chi's run around $100.00. Even if I replace this one every year, I think that it's still less $ as I doubt that any straightener will last more than 10 years.

I personally don't prefer a Chi, although a lot of people love theirs. Mine broke 1 month after the warranty expired. My DH did tear it apart and soldiered the broken wires. It works now, but is a back up just in case something happens to my Ion.

But in the meantime I needed a flat iron. I went to Sally's Beauty Supply and purchased one of these. http://www.sallybeauty.com/flat-iron/ION111,default,pd.html?cgid=Hair09-06 .

I am very happy with this iron. Works just as good, actually better, than my Chi. I love the automatic shutoff feature, and that you can set the temperature to what you want. I have had it for a little over 3 years now and it has never let me down!

I own a maxiglide, bought off HSN years ago. It has decent reviews. I have been very happy with, bought it before I found makeupalley.

I used to use flat irons. Several years ago, however, I switched to a set of King Cobra II cavity back irons. They allow me to hit the ball longer and are much more forgiving than my old clubs.

LOl...I know nothing about golf. I do work at our company golf tournament everyyear, but I take pictures and hand out the awards and doorprizes. Last year one of the prizes was a driver and the president of the company asked me to get it when he was drawing the name. I had to ask which one it was. Lol...He and everyone else found it hilarious.

what is your price range?

I would like to stay under $50 if possible.

My daughter has the InStyler (as seen on TV) and she loves it. It is pricey though. I think about $100. I would NEVER spend the money, but being an only grandchild, my mother bought it for her, even after I told her I thought that was an insane amount of money. But since it was DD's birthday, grandma didn't see my point.

I have a pink FMI straightener, and it does its job well. However, I do wish I'd gotten a straightener that same with a travel case/counter protector, mostly ust for peace of mind. Something you may want to keep in your mind for consideration.

I agree with this. My hair is extremely thick and naturally wavy. It used to take me forever to straighten my hair, now I get it done so fast and my hair has never looked better. You don't have to buy them off TV anymore either. I saw them at Bed Bath and Beyond for 99 dollars. I know it seems like alot but I will never use anything else again.

My daughter has the same type of hair and said the same thing.

I have fine hair, but a lot of it. I have thought about just splurging and getting the Chi or Instyler....I was just wondering what I could get that is still good, but not $100 +.

Wow...that's a really good feature. I'm just sayin'.

My hair too...add very frizzy. I'll have to check out BB&B. I always have tons of coupons for there.

I used to use Hot Tools and liked it fine before I started buying the CHi. It was not a CHi but it did a good job! It was about 35 bucks.

Check out folica.com and read the reviews for the lower priced flat irons. BTW I tried the number one rated SEDU and hated it, but do love the CHI. I know you do not want to spend 100 bucks, but it lasted me like 3 or 4 years, whereas the cheaper ones stop getting hot and you end up replacing them quite often. So over the 4 years, its 100 bucks once with a warranty or buy several of the cheaper ones and just replace them as they burn out.

And be super careful if she is young they get REALLY hot. You may want to get a heat proof pouch! FOlica has those too. I also recommend a heat protection spray for her hair!
