Flash pictures in rides - isnt this a no-no?

I agree it is rude when people think they know better and don't have to obey the rules. It is very distracting to others for someone to be using there flash when they aren't suppose to. As for the flash being bad for the paint and fabric I dunno about that??? But I kn ow you can't take flash photos in most musuems and I thought that was why, so it might be true.

I've heard about women flashing for the camera on Splash Mountain....

oh, you don't mean that way? :confused3

:teeth:

Then you needed to ride with our group the other day. :( The kid was taking pictures all through POTC. If it was supposed to be that bright they would have turned the lights on in the ride. I can ride it anytime but I felt bad for those people riding it for the first time.

I will put on my flameproof suit... :furious: :rotfl2: I have taken flash pics on rides where it is not prohibitted. I love to relive my trips through my pics...I do not and will not take pics with the flash where it is not allowed. I have used my night or action settings to get decent pics without flash. Just follow the rules

If they think it is moral for them to take a picture, then that is fine with them.
If you disagree with their moral interpertation of a sign that says, No flash Photos, then you should not worry about it. Because if you do say something to be critical of their morals, you are just some right wing christian conservative, republican votin, am radio Rush Limbaugh follower who voted for GWB................. :stir:

just a little sarcasm about the anti-moral folks from another post spilling into this one.

People always try to take pictures on Spaceship Earth at the top, and it really ruins the magic-- you don't get to see earth, and I cannot imagine that the pictures come out at all

Get an expensive camera and good film for the dark rides and you won't need a flash, otherwise don't do it--it really does ruin it for people around you, but you know that already, don't you?

If they are the least bit considerate of others they would. :sad2:

Wow. I can't believe that anyone has had an experience ruined because of a flash. That person might be a bit too sensitive. BTW, there is no way that paint or fabric has ever been ruined by a flash or a million flashes for that matter. If it is supposed to be dark would anyone notice anyway? I personally would not use a flash on a non flash ride but it would not ruin my ride if someone else did. :confused3

It's not a matter of "ruining" the ride. But I like the escape of some of the rides and that takes me out of it. Everyone is different to what bothers them.

I'm just amazed that people think it doesn't apply to them when a CM/announcer/sign asks for no flashes before a ride/show/etc...

This is a great example of why I agree with LiLIrishChick63 when they said it ruins the magic. When people inside take pictures it ruins the magic. Think of Stitch, imagine having a camera flash right when stitch disappears, that would ruin the "how it works" which would ruin the show (not that it can be ruined much more, but it's just an example.)

maybe that's why they strap you in for that attraction? lol.

Out of curiosity, which rides prohibit flash photography? We only went to MK last trip and HM is the only ride I recall that said it was prohibited (POTC was closed for refurb so didn't ride it and can't recall from prior trips). I didn't take pics when the ride indicated it wasn't allowed but I took pics on IASW and TTC and they turned out great. Others were taking pics too and don't recall it being prohibited.

I see a bunch of pics in the picture thread of people that took flash pictures inside rides.

I thought that this was something you should not do - for a few reasons.

1) It's rude to other riders (even not in your own car, the flash travels)

2) I thought it makes the paint fade - causes color deterioration.

3) it's rude to other riders.

Doesn't common sense tell you to turn it off?

You are correct on all of those points. Unfortunately, common sense doesn't live amongst most of the population anymore. :furious:

Just like when people buy cameras, they ask for my opinion, I told them about the necessity of clean high ISO so you can take pics on the rides without using flash, then they buy the camera without high ISO capability. THEN they complain that the camera they bought can't take pictures in the dark. Oh well :confused3

Even film won't be able to get that. It needs long enough exposure and the seat is moving, so that'll never happen. I tried it with ISO 3200 on my dSLR, and it's still yield too slow of a shutter speed. Maybe one day when ISO 6400 is available.

You'll need a fast lens (f/2.8 minimum) very good camera with a clean ISO 3200 (then you boost it another stop by UNDERexposing it one-stop), re-boost the exposure level using photoshop, clean the ISO noise with programs / plugins such as Noise Ninja or Noiseware. Then you'll get a clear beautiful picture at the top of Spaceship Earth.

:rotfl2: LMAO :rotfl: Good one!!! :lmao: LMAO :rotfl2:

If flash bulbs can cause fading, how is Paris Hilton not vampire pale yet? ;)

I think the main reason behind the no flash rule is to preserve the magic. With a really great camera, you can manage some no flash photos on rides that turn out well, but generally taking pictures on dark rides (even with flash) just won't turn out that well anyway.

Does anyone know if flash is allowed on IASW or not? I've always wondered!

Why don't you post it so we can see how cool you are?

I find people who take flash pictures in rides irritating, but the only time it annoyed me enough to actually say something to them was once when we were on Small World and the woman ahead of us was turning around and taking pictures of what was behind her -- meaning she was blinding us with her flash. After about the fourth picture I asked her please not to do that as it was flashing right in our faces. She seemed embarassed as if it hadn't occurred to her...
