Flannel Sheets in the summer?

I've heard some people say that flannel sheets keep you cool in the summer. I just don't find that true IMO. Do you use flannel sheets in the summer?

I ONLY use flannel sheets - summer, spring, fall and winter. Of course my ac is set on 60 degrees in the summer.

I use a flannel top sheet only, in place of a reg. top sheet and/or blanket etc. No A/C, only a window fan.

I use my FLEECE sheet (top only) as a blanket in the summer.

I HATE covers in the summer. My DH is always cold, no matter what, so we are a great pair. I throw thme off me, onto him.

The flleece/flannel bottoms sheets would have me drenched in sweat, I am afraid.

I do know that down blankets/comforters have a cooling effect in the summer.

I sleep w/ flannel sheets and a down comforter year round! Here in Az we keep the AC so low I need a lot of covers at night!

I still have my flannels on. When it gets really hot, I switch to the old Egyptian cotton sheets. They are soft as flannel but breath much better.

I use my flannel sheets a lot, just because I like how comfy they feel. In the summer we don't cover up with anything but the sheets, so you stay cool.

DH hates flannel sheets. He sweats when we use them no matter what season it is. I rarely use them now.

Since I suffer from my own private summers (AKA hot flashes!LOL!) now, if I used flannel sheets in either summer or winter, I'd probably die of heat exhaustion!

Flannel sheets in the summer? no way. We use these really soft t-shirt sheets in the summer that are so cool and comfortable to get into.
We prefer to save money on AC and use cooler sheets.

LOL, why oh WHY do people of the south insist on 60 degree 'weather' in their homes?

We stayed with my sister in PCB (florida) when my youngest was a baby. My DD kept waking up (due to the sub zero temps) and one of the times, my sister finally came in to ask me if there was anything she could do...I asked her to bring me an ice pick so that I could clear the baby's airways....

as to flannel sheets, only in the winter here. They are heavenly. But too hot for summer, IMHO.

I found something so comfy at BB&B - I think they are some type of natural beech material. They feel silky but I don't "slide around" on them. When they are in the wash, I switch to the T-shirt kind. Flannel used to be my fave, but now I find them too hot (old lady syndrome approaching, no doubt!)

Flannel sheets are for winter only here. Although this year it was the middle of May before we finally put regular cotton ones on the bed

Flannel is only for the winter. I use the jersey material sheets - they feel like a tshirt - during the summer. They are so cool and comfortable. I buy the Hanes ones at the end of summer when they cost about $10 per set.

Use flannel sheets in the summer take you to some very sweaty nights. A microfiber sheet set would be suitable for spring and summer, while the flannel is seasonally correct in the fall and winter.

Ah, 2005, I remember it well . And I remember those birch /bamboo sheets I used to use. Now I really am in full old lady mode and it's cotton all the way .

no way. we love flannel in the winter, but they are very warm, they would not be good in the summer at all.
