They're both good, somewhat similar, although I prefer Flame Tree a bit more. BUT, if it is really hot out, it's nice to eat at Tusker House since there is inside seating with air conditioning. HTH!
Tusker House is one of my favorite counter service restaurant in all the parks!!! My whole family, kids included, love the food. There is also a really peaceful area outside to sit and eat. It is shaded by trees and stays comfotable even in the middle of the summer heat. I find it a nice place to sit back and relax. And if your lucky they have a show playing nearby that has African style music.
While we intended to try both on our last stay we only managed Tusker House. FANTASTIC chicken! Makes me hungry just thinking about it. The mashed potatoes and green beans that were with it were wonderful as well. Give it a try!
Definitely Tusker House but we are from the deep south so BBQ, let alone good BBQ is easy to find. Tusker House Chicken Salad is wonderful on a steamy hot Florida day.
We like Tusker House, too. Ate there on Friday. We love the rotisserie chicken and mashed potatoes. DD ate THREE drumsticks, and that was GREAT for a kid who nibbles on everything. We were very pleased. They also have a salmon lunch, too.
We like them both - if you have a hankerin' for BBQ, hit FT, otherwise, Tusker House is really good for CS and they have a nice variety. You won't be disappointed with either.
I vote Tusker House too. Like other said, great variety. Plus, for counter-service, their ingredients seem really fresh and tasty. And lots of indoor seating; I've never waited very long in a line there and have always found a seat without having to search (my biggest pet peeve with CS places).
Like 'em both, would go either place, would choose Tusker if I had to only because the service is faster. Last time took forever to get through the line at Flame Tree then couldn't find a place to sit. Never had that problem at Tusker.
Defintely try Flame Tree Barbeque! Those barbeque pork sandwiches are the best! I eat there multiple times each trip to WDW and AK! I wish they could bottle up the sauces for purchase so that I could take some home with me. Yum! I can't wait for Nov!
Love to eat at Flame Tree and wind back into the outdoor seating area. If you go all the way back to the pavilion there is a pavilion on the water with a beautiful view of Everest, and you might be able to catch Mickey and Minnie sailing around on their boat. The food is good too, but I love just relaxing back there. It's soooo calm, pretty and shady.
I don't know about the Tusker but when we were at Flame Tree last week I ate there for the first time and was so unimpressed. I will never eat there again. The BBQ sauces are gross and the 1/2 chicken that I got was pretty fatty. The beans weren't horrible, just not really great either. My problem though is that I live in a city that has 2 really great BBQ places (one has won Memphis in May several times over and the other has won in lots of other BBQ competitions) so I will never have BBQ as good as them again because they're 2 of the best in the country.
We HAVE to eat at Flame Tree on every trip! Its a favorite! I love the grilled chicken sandwich and get fries to dip in their bbq sauces. My bf usually gets the ribs and beans.
