Ok funny story,

In Feb was at DAK and decided on BBQ. Ordered our food and went and sat down and saw this duck that was REALLY limping. I ate for a little while and just couldnt stand it and went to find a CM to alert them that someone had most likely stepped on this poor duck. She said no he has some degenerative bone disease in his bones and he cant be cured but it doesnt hurt him and otherwise he is a happy duck. The vets do look in on him from time to time.

Anyway i said by the nature of this park people must report this duck all the time. She said yeah about every 10 mins. someone like yourself comes to report the duck.

So if you see the duck, dont worry he is fine.

Thank you for sharing. We will be at Flame Tree in September and we will keep an eye out for the duck! :thumbsup2

Aw, poor thing. It's nice that people are concerned about the duck. :)

We'll be there in September as well and will look for the duck. My 4 year old will get a kick out of it. My 2 1/2 year old will want to take him home to make him feel better.

I bet he's faking it to get bread crumbs... he probably gets a lot more with the whole-wheat buns that everyone hates so much!

I wouldn't put it past him! My dogs know to fake an injury in order to get sympathy and treats.

OMG I had a Sheltie and when he was a puppy he would fake hurting his foot and lift it up and yelp and yelp it was horrible. Then I would put down some yummy treat for him and instantly his foot wouldn't hurt anymore and he would run across the room to get his treat. He was the smartest dog ever.

My sheltie did the same thing too, they are smart dogs...she deff. knows how to get treats out of us

One time when I was at MK, we spotted a duck. It had some sort of plastic ring around it's neck and in it's mouth. It was struggling to get it off but it could still breathe. We stopeed a CM (dressed in manager uniform) and they quickly called their "animal care team" and took care of it.

I picture them repelling from helicopters...swooping in to grab the duck and carrying it off to safety on a little stretcher.

There is a duck at POR whose beak is partially missing. She/he is a sweetie. She seems to have learned how to eat and is doing really well. I saw a story about her posted here I think sometime last year before our vacation. When we went in October we found her and I meant to post the pics for the OP, as she wanted to know how the duck was doing. If the OP is out there, your duck is doing fine...I look forward to seeing it this year!

I saw that duck my last trip! He was begging big time for food, I sooo wanted to feed him!:goodvibes

This thread made my heart sink to my feet. We will be there in a week, and last trip during spring, we swore we might have to reconsider future spring trips. We stay at Beach Club, and there are always baby ducks. The problem is mommies and daddies don't tell their own babies to leave the duckies alone, and they chase them around. Baby ducks end up with broken legs scurrying around the lounge chairs. I watched one try to follow him mom around and into the pool. He was about to die as he was gasping for air. Mom recognized and started dive bombing him. I couldn't take it anymore. I "rescued" him hoping someone/anyone would put him out of his misery. The animal folks finally came to take care of the situation.

The crazy, young life guards couldn't understand my dismay, and said, "you really shouldn't pick up babies." I've lived on a virtual farm all my life, and I know the drill. But, when I'm on vacation as the "happiest place on earth," I can't stand watching animals suffer--not part of my ideal relaxation plan!

OMG My friend used to have a Sheltie and one time I stepped on his paw accidentally. Every time I saw him for years afterward he would instantly fake an injury and start limping until I left. His owner thought it was hilarious but I was mortified. That is so funny that other shelties do that. I had no idea. Shelties are extremely smart. They are the Siamese cats of dogs (if that makes sense).

I'll be looking for that duck in less then a month. Love those Flame Tree Ribs:thumbsup2
