Flame Tree Barbecue Refurbishment - 8/9/10-9/19/10

that good to know.. because my trip is sept 22 - 29th.. i'm glad they be done when I'm there..

TGM says the Flame Tree Barbecue will be closed for refurbishment from Aug 9 - Sep 19, 10. It will reopen on Sep 20, 10.

That stinks. We usually go to Tusker house as a brunch at AK, but decided to get an early ADR for Tusker breakfast this Aug and try Flame Tree for lunch as we heard so many good things about it. :sad1:

Nooooooooo! We are there 8/15-21. That is the one place we always go to every trip! We love the food! :sad2:

Is this official? And what does that leave for fast food at AK, especially for those who don't like Yak and Yeti?

Not sure if it's official, but I usually trust TGM.

Restaurantosaurus, Pizzafari, Yak & Yeti, and they could also have Picnic in the Park as their other option.

Add me to the list of fans of Flame Tree Bar-b-que. The birds have not bothered us too much but I did notice that they can get "in your face" even to other people who are also trying to ignore them. We watched this guy for a while and he was NOT feeding that bird!

I am planning to eat there on August 11th. I would love to know if there is any official information about this.. Need to make other plans if it will be closed..

Oh no, it will be closed our entire trip! We didn't eat there last year, we were planning a 2nd day at AK and were going to eat then, but we didn't make it back.

NOOOO!!!

We always eat Flame Tree BBQ once on each trip. Perhaps we will have to try Mara once, or that can be another lunch day at DTD with WPE.

After I read it on Tour Guide Mike, I went and checked the WDW site refurb list. It's not listed. But like a PP, I trust Tour Guide Mike. Since it's just a CS meal, I'm not sweating it. But we too are disappointed.

Have never eaten here. Was wanting to try it in October, but I am very afraid of birds. Is there a place to sit to avoid being bothered by the birds or should I continue to avoid it? If what happened in that picture above happened to me, I would be freaking out and screaming.

My family tried Flame Tree Barbeque for the first time this past February. While the food is good, I will not be back. I am also terrified of birds and could not enjoy my meal whatsoever. The ducks didn't bother us too much, but a few of the other types of birds were pretty aggressive. My husband basically stood through the whole meal shooing them away from our table. Indoor seating would be the only way I would go back.

Booooo! Flame Tree is the only CS I like in AK. First Toy Story Mania, now Flame Tree. Sadness.

PLEASE indoor seating!! I swear they have the most aggressive birds in the world there!

My DD(1) LOVED the birds. She was having a rough morning and they made her day. They were pecking at my DH shorts and they took the ribs right off of the woman's plate who was sitting next to us.

We love the waterside dining, but we hate the people who intentionally feed the birds. It just encourages flocks of them to come around. I mean, if a little kid drops something, OK, that's just an accident. But giving a 3 year old a bun to break up and feed to the birds within a foot or two of 3-4 other tables - that's just rude!

The birds have never bothered us. We see their presence as enhancing the overall Animal Kingdom experience.

Count me in as being bummed, we will be there Sept 2-9 :sad1: I guess that will be one more trip over to sr 535 to get my Chick-fil-a "fix" during the week! :rotfl:

Once I had a bird poop on my foot (lucky it didn't get my head) at Flame Tree BBQ, I was told it was "good luck" to get pooped on by a bird. Later that night DH proposed to me on Main Street during the Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks! :bride:

I wonder if there will be menu changes when it re-opens?

We always want to give Flame Tree a try, but since we're at WDW during hot temps Pizzafari for the a/c is where we end up going. I'm hoping to try Flame Tree on our upcoming trip (weather permitting) right after it re-opens.

We like sitting right by the water, slightly down the hill in the covered area. There are certainly birds, but not as persistant as the ones in the upper eating areas IMO. Wonder what they are changing in the kitchen, maybe just updating?
