Flag Retreat

At DW they always choose a vet to help with the flag retreat. We are going to DL this weekend with my parents and my father is retired Navy and I know it would make his trip if he could participate. Do they do the same thing at DL? How do they choose the vet? Any hints or suggestions would be great. Thanks!

I watched it once - very nice ceremony. They had a couple children helping with the flag. During the ceremony, the band honored each branch of the service with a song and asked all guests of that branch to come forward. I don't know if this is their usual ceremony. Maybe someone can help me out.

every time we have watched they do ask the various members to come forward. my husband is retiring from the navy this month and he actually asked about having a flag flown somewhere within Disney and was denied. The one guy that is part of the ceremony told him he would have loved to do it for him if the big wigs had approved it. . .

My children were selected to participate in this ceremony on July 6, 2007 in DL.

My nephew was selected for the Flag Retreat a couple of weeks ago. They were on Main Street a little while before the parade started. My nephew was wearing a red, white & blue USA shirt, so I think that helped with their choice. He also received a special flag retreat pin that is only give to people that do the flag retreat. There was another child chosen from another family also. The CM told my brother that they usually try to pick a family with 2 kids close in age. My nephew is 8. They said they picked him because they liked his patriotic shirt.

Yes, mine are 11 and 8 we were told the same thing. They received the flag pins and certificiate photo holders.
