Canadian chiming here so I could be wrong...but I believe that it is a new flag every day and that when it is lowered at the retreat ceremony it is given to a veteran or the family of a veteran. Please correct me if I am wrong.
The veteran is not given the flag. When my dad was chosen in August of 2019 they made mention of it being a new flag right around that time but it is not given away every day. After the ceremony, my dad was presented with a smaller ceremony and certificate. We had photographs taken where my dad was holding the flag but he was not given it. He passed it back and it was taken away somewhere.
Same for us. My husband and I had the honor of being the veterans to help retire the flag at Magic Kingdom during one of our trips. We were both given certificates and special pins, but not the flag. It is by far our best Disney experience over the years.
AFAIK, the flag that is on the pole at the end of Main St. USA is the only regulation flag on MSUSA. All of the other American flags have a missing stripe or star and so are not official flags which don't have to be taken down every day. Another place I know of at WDW that has a flag retreat is at the Wilderness Lodge.
What would be the purpose of using a new flag everyday if they aren't going to do anything special with it? Disney is way to cheap to just keep buying new flags 365 days a year.
