What benefits do FLA residents get that Annual Passholders don't? I'm renting an apt. for my daughter in FL, but I live in NY (the apt and utilities are in my name). I'm thinking of using the address to get a FL id; but want to know if it's worth the trouble. Any thoughts?

Thanks!!

So I can tailor the pass to the times I'd be most likely to visit? I'm not trying to pull a major fast one on WDW; just trying to derive some kind of benefit from the rent (and indirectly, the taxes) I'm paying each month in FLA!

Sorry -- took a significant hiatus after registering in '02. But thanks anyway for the helpful response, "Amity" (defined as "a cordial disposition") 3.

Well, no, you don't tailor anything. A FL resident gets a discounted price for each. But, the seasonal pass has exclusions that an AP doesn't.

Assuming you'll be able to get a FL ID without surrendering your NY ID you can get a discount on buying the annual pass or get the seasonal AP. SOmetimes FL residents get discount offers that are about equal to AP rates. I've gotten fantastic offers on fall cruises.

That wasn't very Disney like. That was very rude. She has has much right to ask any question no mater how many years she has been on the board.

You can't get a FL drivers liscence without giving up your NY one. I'm not sure what other FL ID's are acceptable proof of residence.

We have the seasonal AP's, we chose them because we never intend to go over a peak time of year (Christmas vacation, etc) again.

This is our second year of seasonal APs and I think they're great, the only benefit we really miss is free parking, but we usually atay on-site so it isn't an issue.

You may be able to get a Florida ID card without turning in your NY DL. Go to myflorida.com for info.

well they get them cheaper! that is all i know. we used to live in florida and we got them but after we got married we decided that we like ap better.

the biggest diff between the FL seasonal and the APs is the fact that seasonal passes have blackout dates. It's usually during peak times (Christmas, thanksgiving, etc) and most of the summer. Also, APs get free parking while seasonals don't.

If you can get a FL ID, the seasonal pass is the cheapest. Then the FL resident APs are next cheapest. They're cheaper than regular AP rates.

When we moved down here, we actually upgraded to the Premium APs because we had renewed our APs at the out-of-state rates and upgrading to Premium cost us only $12 more! I like the flexibility of the AP. I love Disney during Christmas and if I can't go during that time, that would just suck.

Gee, I would like to do a day at the parks with you. :sad2:

BTW, just an FYI, the tech folks might get after you on that signature, WAY out of their guidelines......

Here is the setup from Bill......

Again, just a friendly FYI.

just because you rent property in Florida doesn't give you rights to resident opportunities.

My opinion on the difference of FL Seasonal Pass vs FL Annual Pass.
Seasonal is Cheaper, has some large Blackout periods (Not just Christmas, most of the summer is blacked out), and you still have to pay the $10 parking fee.

Annual is more expensive, good for the whole year, and you don't pay parking fee.

I personally own FL Annual Passes because I do go during the summer and for every holiday.

I have a friend at work, who has a family of 5. He buys one AP to take care of parking and the rest of the family gets Seasonal Passes. So they don't go during Blackout, but its cheaper this way. $10 a trip for parking adds up, if you go a lot.

BTW: I did have to surrender my NY State Driver's license to get my FL Driver's License, when I moved down last year.

Have Fun!

Really? I mean, I'm renting a property in MA, but if that means I'm not a resident, I suppose I should turn in my driver's license and not pay income taxes. I guess my car registration isn't valid either.

Drat. Guess me and my husband have to move in with one of our parents until we can afford to buy a house, because we need to have residency somewhere. </sarcasm>

Moron. Renting grants residency rights. Not everyone owns a house. Heck, some people own two houses, in two states!
Not everything is black and white.

A Florida ID is an accepted form to get the Florida discounts. My sister lives in New Orleans and has a current Florida ID. She comes often to help out with our parents and for bank reasons she decided to get a florida id. The Disney tickets are just an added perk! lol

Moron. .

ahh, name calling.

let me clarify and dumb it down for you. the person that is paying rent for someone else in Florida while residing in NY does not qualify for FL resident rates.

if you want to score the resident rates in Florida, you have to have a FL license, not an ID. they're not honored in the parks anymore.
