Hi, my step-DD is a resident of FL. We are visiting her next month and would like to take the family to US/IOA. Can step-DD buy the FL resident tix for all of us to use? The terms and conditions say limit 6 tix per FL ID but then it also says for purchase and use by FL residents only. So I am confused.

I was on hold with US/IOA when I posted this. I got thru and was able to confirm that step-DD can buy tix for herself and us BUT must use her credit card to do it. Well, she's only 20 & a college student...no credit card!!! So she can't even buy one for herself. What a crock!

Florida residents can buy tickets (up to 6 tickets, I think) for friends and family. The people they buy them for do not have to be FL residents. If she orders online and picks them up at the kiosk or chooses print-at-home tickets, then she won't need her ID. She will need FL ID if she picks the tickets up at Guest Services Will-call window. The person buying the tickets must be a FL resident but her guests do not have to be. So she may have to show FL ID but you wouldn't have to.

She can also buy the tickets at publix! Why don't you go with her to purchase them with your card; when at universal all you have to do is have her go to guest services with her id.

The reason universal asks for the florida resident to pay for them with their card is because florida resident ticket prices are only available online you cannot get those rates at the gate.

Hmmm, never thought of that. But would that have a billing address linked to it? Because they make you put that in and confirm it before the sale is finalized.

Pretty sure you can have the gift recipient’s information linked with the card; your information will just be attached with billing. Most banks have this kind of program for college students, so parents can just transfer money into their account.
But I still think the Publix option would probably be the easiest for you.

Purchasing Florida Resident tickets at your step-dd's local Publix grocery store. They have the tickets in the gift card section, can be purchased at the register with your debit/charge card. But you step-dd will have to go with her id to guest services to exchange vouchers at the gate.

That is great idea about Publix and we may check into that...

I talked to DH a few minutes ago and he mentioned step-DD using her debit card for payment of the FL tix online which I had not thought of. So he wanted me to call and confirm how long it takes to get the tix. Anyway, when the rep got on the phone I started the conversation as if I had not called before and I asked the question again about FL residents buying the tix and then non-FL residents using them and he said NO we cannot do that, not even if she is with us. I am so frustrated. I can't believe I got 2 different answers within 10 minutes time. He told me had we purchased tix we would not be allowed entry at the gate. Boy, am I glad we didn't purchase them b/c I would be totally ticked off!!! I feel like I am being honest and responsible by asking questions up front and I cannot even get an answer I can believe.

Is US/IOA really worth $300 for one day? I can get the three of us into WDW for a day plus get step-DD the 4 day Dream pass to WDW for that price!

I can only go by personal experience as a florida resident and annual passholder; with that said I've purchased tickets for my guests at the kiosk at the florida ressie rate. My grandmother was never bothered for an id at the gates. Since I am entitled to purchase up to 6 tickets per ID.

Thanks so much for your help. I'd love to save $200+ on being able to go to US/IOA but I am concerned over what would happen should we purchase them based on verbal info from someone on the phone and then end up not being able to use them. I cannot afford to lose $300 and get nothing for it And I don't know that there will be enough for my DD at US/IOA to justify spending full price, which is why I was so excited about the FL resident option.

We'll continue to weigh our options...maybe we'll check out the Publix option when we get there. Have you used those type tix before with no problem?

This year I purchased the Mardi Gras Power Pass for my mother @ publix and exchanged it at guest services with no problem. But do not have first hand exp on the reg fl. tickets. I tend to buy them straight from uni using the kiosk option.

My only experience with the discounted tickets has been with my AP...we can also purchase for friends/family at a discount...I have not used the FL resident tickets. I'm surprised you can't purchase these tickets at the gate like the AP tickets. In that case, you guys could all buy your own tickets as long as your DD there and only she would have to show her ID. It would be nice if Disney offered discounted tickets but they don't...Passholders can't even get discounted tickets for friends.

I called the other day to verify this as well, all my family except for me, hubby, and kids are from Florida. I wanted to verfiy that if my mom bought the tickets could we use them, and as long as she goes we are good to go.

I also verified this for Seaworld since we are planning on going over there and they have a special where you go to Seaworld and you get a free ticket to the waterpark or Busch Gardens.
