Hey Disney...if you are reading this......please make it possible to get the diniing plan with a resort reservation! :Pinkbounc

My parents have FL season passes and the grandkids and I are going to Disney with them at Christmas. We can not get the meal plan because my parents do not need tickets for themselves! What a pain!

I will never be able to convince my dad to buy 2 1-day passes so we can all get meals! :guilty:

We are DVC members so we never have gotten the Dining Plan...but my guess is depending on the ages of your kids, you might be able to save money NOT getting the plan....I have 4 kids ages 14, 12, 11, 8 and they are picky eaters and when I eat out we save a ton by sharing meals....

My whole family has Annual Passes. So we can't get it either, and we can't get the ap codes right now either. I hope to get the dining plan with an annual pass discount. Here's hoping Disney is reading!!

But as FL residents they will be able to get room discounts and can get the DDE because of the SPs (SP rate is $50 and FL is $75 for the DDE card). The DDE will give you 20% discount at TS restaurants and the only CS is at the Value resorts.
This can tell you more.

The room discounts might make up for the dining. Especially if you are trying to stay Deluxe.

I seriously doubt Disney will open up the dining plan to those not staying on site. access to the dining plan is one of the big incentives to stay onsite and in order to get it, you have to pay a higher room rate (rack rate instead of AP or FL discounts), which is essentially a subsidy for the dining plan.

they only way it would make sense is to offer the dining plan at a higher cost to those not staying onsite or using a room discount of some kind.

I was nosey enough to see how much AKL would be for the 12/22-12/27 with the FL rate and it would be $184 a night water/pool view. I looked up rack rate and it said $354 water/pool view a night. So figure if you got 2 rooms you would have $340 a day to eat just on the savings. BUT do your parents realize that SP blackout is 12/22-1/5/06. They would either need to upgrade to an AP (cheapest way) or buy additional tickets. The upgrade would only be the difference in the 2 prices about $115 per ticket.

For starters I know their FL season passes are blacked out from 12/22 but that is okay because we will be finished with our park hopping with them by that date.

Also we have resort reservations so we are not staying off site! We are staying in the Beach Club.

I found rates quoted online were more than if I called it in, so I made reservations on the phone.

I was told we would get about a 16% discount with the FL resident.

We got rooms at the BC for about $288 a night and the rate I looked up online was $355. That is what around 19 % discount but if you call it in the book rate is cheaper making around 16% discount.

This is very close to the rate we would get if we booked it AAA instead.

The thing with the dining plan is everyone in the room must buy the same plan
and you must buy at least a 1 day ticket.

If you already have season passes then you do not need another ticket!

I will look into the DDE for SP but it will take a lot of selling for me to convince him to buy it.
