Fl Resident rate vs Fl Resident Annual Pass Rate

I am a relatively new FL resident and have only been to Disney a few times but would go more if I could.

Please tell me in a nutshell, the advantages of having a FL resident annual pass versus just booking a hotel room and getting the FL resident rate. Are there other non-resort benefits (food discounts, etc.?).

Thanks. We're trying to plan a family reuinion/40th anniversary party for my parents in 2007 and 6 of the 12 (3 adults 1 kid (age 10 at travel time) and 2 under 10) members are FL residents. Would it be cheaper if we got annual passes?

I am a Florida resident and I have an annual pass. We usually go at least twice a year for at least 7 days, so it is great to have. The discounts for Florida residents and passholders are usually pretty much the same for room only discounts. There are more benefits with the pass though. Dining(at certain restaurants), shopping(at certain stores), marina rentals at the resorts, the DDE card, just to name a few. Resort discounts are sometimes hard to come by. I like having the annual pass because then I at least have two different options to try for a resort discount. I will say that the last three years I have been able to get an annual pass discount for June.

Last year was the first full year I lived in FL. I went four times using a single day pass (using the 10% discount) and a FL Resident 3 day pass (the advertised get 3rd day free plan). Would I be better off going that route again in the future if I don't know how often I will go or should I get the annual pass? My parents moved her 9 years ago and bought annual passes and never used them. We live 90 minutes away on the other side of the state.

You can also upgrade your FL Res. 3 day pass to an annual or seasonal pass if you upgrade within 6 months of date it was purchased.
