I'm trying to figure out if this card is worthwhile for a 5 day trip. That would be the only time we would use it so it would have to save us more than $75 over 5 days in order to be worth it for us.

We will be eating at:
50's primetime cafe(lunch)
Luau(dinner)
Plaza restaurant(lunch)
ESPN(dinner)
Boatwrights(breakfast)
HW&V(dinner)
Breakfastasaurus(breakfast)
and I'm sure a few other counter service places in between.

What do you think? Would you do it?

it's only good at the sitdown restaurants (unless there is not a sit down, such as at the All Stars Movie/Music resort). How many people in your party. For 2 it might not be worth it, but if a family, probably is (re: 20% off food & bar)

It's good at AK counter restauranst too like Flame Tree BBQ. I've also used it at the moderates food courts. It's also great if you visit PI, you get 50% off admission. You can also valet park for free at the resorts while dining at them, great perk!
Is this the only time you will use it this year? How many in your family?

Yes, this will be the only time we will use it. There are 4 in our family, 2 adults and 2 kids.

Well, you to spend $400.00 over your vacation to make it worth it. I know we do that very easily!

That is exactly what my DH said this morning. The only thing is that we have a PS for the Luau at 5:15 and we'll need to change it to the 8pm show in order to save on this. We're not too keen on eating that late but it will be a $30 savings so I guess it's worth it to eat later. I think I'm going to go for it. Even if we only break even it will be kind of like pre paying $75 worth of food.

OK, I added up our PS meals and they come to $465. I'm sure we'll eat other food too but I guess it's worth it. Now for the questions:

1)Is Breakfastasaurus included? On the listing it says "restaurantasaurus" but I don't know if that would include Donald's breakfast. Anybody know?

2)Also, after reading the list, I'm assuming the Sunshine food court in the land is not included? Anybody confirm/deny this?

3)When you make your PSs do you have to mention the card? Or do you just show it when you get ready to pay?

Any personal experience with the details of how this card works would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You don't have to tell them you have the card when you make your dining experience. Actually you show the card after you have gotten your bill and they will go modify the bill for you. 20% is taken off the entire bill, including alcohol.
Go over to Deb Willis' site and you can see the entire list of restaurants that will take the card as well as the lounges and bars. http://www.allearsnet.com/ is the site address.
We've had our cards for years and I can't even believe what we've saved. It pays for itself over and over again.

Well, we bought the card!

I answered some of my own questions:
1)it is good at Breakfastasaurus
2)it is NOT good at the Sunshine Food Fair in the land
3)you do not have to mention it when making reservations, just show it when you are ready to pay.
4)if you're going to the Luau, it's only good at the later show so we changed our PS for that
5)it's mostly for sit down restaurants with the exception of resorts that do not have a sit down restaurant, it is good at those food courts. For example, at POR it's only good at Boatwrights, not the food court but at POFQ it is good at the food court because they don't have a sit down place. The card is good at most places in AK even though they are counter service but I'm guessing that's because there isn't really a sit down place in AK.

So, that's the scoop as far as I know it. Thanks to all who helped. Anyone who has any personal experience using the card is welcome to post, I'd be interested in your experiences both good and bad.

Thanks!

I love my DDE card. Even though it's just DH and me mostly, we still hit that breakeven point pretty quickly. We eat mostly sit-downs, very rarely counter service, and that is why it works so good for us. I also like getting the little newsletter every month about special dinners and other DDE activities.

I actually have a few questions on how renewal works but I figure I ought to wait until I actually have the card in hand before I start worrying about 1 year from now. I wondered if it comes "activated"? Meaning what exact date will it expire? The date I ordered it? Or the date I first use it? Do you have a grace period for renewals? Anyway, none of this is urgent, I have an entire year before I even need to think about it but since you brought this up......:teeth:

When you get it it will have an expiration date on it. When you renew it, it will continue where it left off. No grace period.
Enjoy & happy eating

The cards have an expiration date on them. I'm not sure how Disney determines the expiration date. You HAVE to renew the card within 30 days of your expiration date to get the renewal price.

If you plan to drive to any of the resorts for dinner, go ahead to valet and show them the card, as mentioned previously you get to valet for free which is a great perk!! (don't forget to tip though:D ) It's extremely handy to valet especially when you have young children!!

It comes to you already activated. It usually expires at the end of the month you ordered it (the following year).

I LOVE THIS CARD!!!!!!!!!!:p :p

I also love my DDC but I have found that you should tell your server that you will be using it before he/she does the final bill...that way you will be out of the restaurant faster because if you let them give the bill then show it they then have to redue the bill.

That's true that you will get out faster if you give them the card before hand. However, we always like to see the original bill first so we can figure out the tip based on the pre-discount amount. I don't want to do the math in reverse.
