As property owners and tax payers, can we use our DVC deed to acquire a FL resident id ?

I believe in our DVC contracts it states that the ownership of DVC property alone does not allow you to claim residency. Others should jump in here on this, but I thought this was the case, stipulated by Florida Timeshare laws.

Yes, your contract states you cannot use this as a basis for FL id.

No you can't. In order to get a Florida ID you have to be a full time resident that does not possess a driver's license of any kind.

And this is a very recent change. Before, you could have a in Florida only driver's license. They've just done away with that because of the Real ID act. This is too bad, as so many people have second Florida homes, and it can be crucial to have that ID (which we found out during hurricane times...they'll only let you get to your property if you have a picture ID with the address on it.)

I don't know if the recent changes affected other FL laws but in the past you only had a limited time to change your DL to FL if you were living in the state. I wonder if snow birds will have to get a new DL every time they change locations for any period of time. As I read the laws, assuming I am reading it correctly, one could still get a FL ID but not a FL only DL.

However, this is not really a FL resident question but rather a "what does Disney require for certain benefits" question. And they've stated that owning DVC does not qualify under those rules.

Yes it is recent, it was discussed on either the resort or attractions forums. I found the discussion, this was posted.

This is from the FL DL website:
Starting November 1, 2009, several legislative changes will go into effect to comply with Real ID Act mandates. The Department and our tax collector partners will:

* No longer issue “Valid in Florida Only” driver licenses.

* Allow Floridians to hold either a driver license or an identification card, but not both simultaneously.

* Issue driver licenses and identification cards displaying a driver’s full legal name on the face of the card.
