We have 2 girls - age 4 and age 1. We will not be renting a car while at Disney and will most likely be using the magical express upon arrival. I say, "most likely" because we haven't booked our hotel for the day of arrival. We're staying at AKL from Sat to Sat, but are arriving on Friday. Don't want to spend $$$$ just to swim and sleep. :) Plus, we're staying at the Best Western airport Saturday night before our early Sunday departure. They have free airport shuttle, but we still have to get there and we don't know what time the shuttle runs.

Thus, we may find ourselves needing to use a cab a couple of times. What is the deal with carseats and cabs? Do we need to bring them? I'm not comfortable holding my babies while goodness-knows-who drives us around, but I REALLY don't want to schlep 2 giant Britax Marathons with us if I don't have to. Aside from the very obvious safety issues, can we ride in cabs without carseats?

If anyone knows this same answer pertaining to MA cabs, let me know. We have to get from our house to the airport and want to avoid paying about $20/day to park our car.

I'm confused... you're uncomfortable with it and you know it's unsafe, but you want to know if you can do it anyway?

do you want to use the cabs while at disney? why not just use the disney transpo? I would call Akl and ask them about the cabs.

Disney transportation is the only one I know of where carseats aren't required. You do have to use carseats in all other personal transportation. Not sure about other hotel shuttles though. Have a nice trip!:flower3:

According to this thread HERE on the transportation board, Mears provides car seats. I would also not want to put my child in a vehicle w/out one (legal or not).

Your DD1 would be my biggest concern, but I think your DD4 would be okay. The youngest I've had my kids go without carseats in 2.5, a couple times in the limo to/from the airport we just couldn't get it hooked up. I'm the first to be worried about my kids' safety, but in some situations there's not much you can do.

If your DD4 is big enough, I would consider just getting a booster for travel. That way if you do decide to bring a toddler seat for your DD1 and don't want your DD4 to be without some type of protection, but don't want to lug two around, you can.

Please don't flame, just an idea.

Thanks for the replies. We worked it out so that we won't need to use a cab. We are staying at an All Star the first night and will use the magical express to get to Disney. We'll then take the ME back to the airport and use the free airport transportation provided by the Best Western between there and the airport.
