Ok, I've been hammering you guys with my questions lately. I promise this will be my last one (today:goodvibes)

I'm wondering if anyone can compare the motion sickness level on FJ as compared to Soarin? I am usually pretty bad on motion simulator rides, and avoid them at all costs, but Soarin is ok for me as long as I stick to 1 ride per day. Will I be closing my eyes on FJ?
Just for reference - the old Body Wars ride in Epcot KILLED me - couldn't enjoy anything for the rest of that day.

Thanks!

I don't think you can compare FJ to anything...anywhere.

I've never ridden it but I can tell you it's nothing like Soarin!

You might want to pass on Forbidden Journey.

I don't get motion sickness, but my DH does. He cannot ride Star Tours but Soarin is OK. He was really excited to ride FJ last summer but was sick within seconds of starting the ride. He was sick the rest of the day. It is a fabulous ride and I hate that he cannot enjoy it with the rest of the family.

I am curious about this, too, and have been reading the threads on this topic. I am ok on Soarin', but can't handle the tea cups or Star Tours. For anyone that has taken motion sickness meds and then ridden FJ, did it help you?

Not much bothers me, just that momentary drop of the stomach when first starting out, mostly trepidation.

My sister cannont handle the tea cups or anything that spins, Mission Space (Orange). No problems with Hulk or Dragon Challenge but for some reason FJ made her ill. I think it's the motion simulator, arm coaster combination.

Also, we went straight to the ride, single rider and jumped right on first thing in the A.M. Maybe that was it?

Part of it may be that people talk about it so much that there is a tension there that has some impact on how it's handled? (Psychological?)

My friend who has no motion sickness issues took one Dramamine just in case and said there was no problem at all.

Motion simulators kill me too. I need to take less-drowsy dramamine to ride FJ.

I went with my family this weekend and none of them had ever been. They told me my description was perfect (yet corny). It is like Soarin', Dinosaur, and Star Tours had a crazy HP baby.

3 out of 4 rode it based on that and really liked it. The 4th person had a really great time walking the castle, taking pics, shopping, and drinking butterbeer! She didn't even want to try FJ but she still had lots of fun- and you will too if you decide not to ride! :goodvibes

I generally don't get motion sickness on any ride. But FJ gives me a touch of it, especially near the end -- lots of high-motion swooping with less-than-crystal-clear visuals at times seems to do it.

If you're prone to it, I'd say it might make you sick.

Just take some Meclizine about 1 hour prior to riding. That's what my DH does and he does great.:goodvibes

Based on this one statement alone, I don't think FJ is for you--drugs or not. Soarin' is very tame compared to FJ in my opinion. I recommend you have someone you know ride it first and then decide.

We went in November and were one of the first ones on and once was enough for me. It made me very nauseaus and I am much the same as you I can ride Soarin with no problem but can't do star tours or the Simpsons ride (that one was worse for me than FJ). I did get over the feeling after awhile but I had no desire to ride it again. My kids and husband rode it several times with no problem and loved it. I will try it again the next time we go and may try taking a little motion sickness medicine before I get on.:worship:

Now I am worried. I am the most sensitive person to motion sickness in the world! (I get sick on a swing.) I can ride Soarin' and EE one time with no meds, but I can't do Star Tours or Tea Cups even with Dramamine.

I will be on heavy duty Bonine for our visit in preparation for our cruise (which also is making me nervous, but that's another story). Has anyone had any experience riding FJ with drugs that made it doable? I will be very disappointed if I can't ride, but don't want to be sick before we even get on the ship.

Also, if you can't ride the ride, is it still worth the whole queue? The only one of my family who doesn't have some degree of motion sickness is my DD4, who will be too short to ride. :sad2: HP was kind of the whole reason we are going to IOA, so I want to make sure we can still experience most of it.

Oh, one more thing, to piggy back on this topic, what about the Spiderman ride? Also motion simulator?

There are simulator parts but your vehicle moves through rooms and seems to move nicely in conjunction with the simulation.

Sort of, but more mild than FJ. DW has gotten sick on FJ, but thought Spidey was much more tolerable.

Spiderman made me really queasy.

Does that mean I should definitely stay off FJ if I'm not taking motion sickness medication?

I can get car sick within 5 minutes if i am not the driver, always have for as long as i can remember.

I rode FJ twice this weekend with the help of Zofran (prescription nausea medicine.) It is a truly awesome ride. The first time we had eaten breakfast and i didnt feel queasy at all. The second time was on an empty stomach and a felt just a little sick that time.

I find that keeping my eyes on harry during the simulator sections helped a lot, (like watching the car in front when you are driving ) I was fine on the non simulator parts.

Sounds like a plan!!!! I am very concerned about getting sick on the ride.. as the Simpsons does me in.. I will look into the Zofran before the trip.. and give it a shot!!!
