My fan died, my pc over heated and crashed. We replaced the fan and of course have some problems with the pc. Scan disk and defrag fixed most of the problems but I am still having some. I can't open most of my icons without getting a IE error message and getting booted off. I can access things by using my start menu, only. If I go to some web sites or try to do certain things I still get this message. It will say IE has commited an error and you are getting shut down and that's what happens. Is there any place I can go online to correct my windows errors or check to see if there are corrupted IE files? I don't have a windows disk, but I have the restore disk from my pc with windows on it. I can't figure out how to use this and I know if I do use it I'll lose a bunch of info. Thanks if you can help.

bumping since I"m still trying to fix this problem. Could the initial crash have been caused by a virus. When I go to properties, although it says what space is used and what space is free, it is all the same color. I can't run an updated anti-virus because if I go to any website and try to download any new virus definitions I get an ie error. I can't download anything. I'm really hoping somebody here can help me before I have to turn to my brother the computer bully. Whenever anything goes wrong with my pc he blames me and dh and implies that we go to bad websites or something like that. If you've ever seen that SNL skit with the pc repair guy ( I think it's Chris Cattan) that's my brother to a t.
