Fixer upper’s- need help

We need to cover this hole. We don’t want to patch it because we don’t have the paint it was painted with so we would have to repaint the whole bathroom. We looked for larger covers but couldn’t find one big enough to cover. We would prefer not to have to take the shower head off to do it. I know…I’m not asking for much. What suggestions do you have to cover the hole that would look decent but not include patching, painting or removing the shower head?

Doesn’t the shower head just unscrew from the pipe? I have changed shower heads in my bathroom a few rimes and it was just twisting off one and twisting on another. I am thinking you should be able to buy a wider trim piece that sits against the wall, which would conceal the damage, and install it in five minutes by twisting off the head to remove the old one, slide the new trim on, and then twisting it back onto the pipe.

I can’t think of anything easy if you aren’t willing to remove the shower head.

You could try these. they are 3.83 " square and they are split so no need to take off head. I would install and then take a some caulk (clear or white your choice) and put a bead around the square just to keep moisture out of the hole

Adhesive tiles? I believe you can cut them to size.

With the luck we have had fixing things lately, we are trying to make sure we don’t have anything else to fix by fixing something. We have had to call in professionals to fix what we messed up when we “fixed“ other things. Major money. We just aren’t handy at all. We are the opposite. If we were to unscrew that thing, we would end up having to replace all of the plumbing. That is just how our luck is going. Funny, but not really funny.

That just might work. Hoping it fits over existing cover.

That's an EZ little boo boo to fix and you should fix it. Then use a bigger cover to cover over it without having to paint. It doesn't even have to fit over the existing cover. You just get a pair of tin snips, cut the existing one off, and put a new one that installs without taking the pipe out

for future reference on painting touch ups-the paint match technology these days is amazing. all it takes is a small dime size chip of paint from the existing paint and it can be matched identically to the extent that we were able to match both the original paint color of one area of our home as well as the adjacent sun faded portion so both repairs incorporated seamlessly. if you use sherwin williams to do it they will keep the information on file under your name to retrieve if you need further touch up in the same color.

Unless whatever you do to the shower head has absolutely no ramifications, yiu Will need to do some touch up. Just scrape a small piece off close to the area where you will be repainting, put it in a plastic slip lock bag and take it to a paint store. I actually use my local Ace hardware…those guys can d8 anything! . I have no idea how the technology works but it’s amazing. I’ve gotten quarts of various paints and once done, I’m trying to do a better job of keeping track of where to use it. once you have the paint matched it’s so easy to do touch ups all around the house and keep your Rooms looking fresh.

We have used the paint matching thing several times and it works most of the time. We have had two times that it was a fail. We had to repaint a whole entryway instead of just a spot a couple of months ago because of a color match fail. We also have a spot on our ceiling from a leak that is very noticeable. It is much whiter than the area around it. Another fail. We REALLY don't want to repaint.

It worked!! Thank you!!! I forgot to take a picture but I’ll be back over tomorrow and I will post it then. We actually pulled the round cover forward a little bit, popped the new square piece (snap on thingy ) on and then pushed the round cover back on it. It looks so much better. The square cover also had double sticky tape so that it sticks to the wall. It kind of makes it look like it has a decorative piece behind it.
I googled to see if I could find the same piece at maybe Home Depot, Wal-mart, Lowe’s…but couldn’t find it anywhere. We had looked before for something to do it with and couldn’t find anything, and that was before we were adamant about not taking the shower head off. You really helped us out!

In my experience, changing shower heads is an easy quick job. I honestly think that is your least expensive, best looking fix. Just buy one with a large enough base piece to cover.

I’d go that route even if I decided that I wanted a plumber to do the switch. Buy the fixture yourself and then hire a plumber for less than an hour for the switch out.
