How on earth would anybody know THAT word for this part?

In my experience, changing shower heads is an easy quick job. I honestly think that is your least expensive, best looking fix. Just buy one with a large enough base piece to cover.

I’d go that route even if I decided that I wanted a plumber to do the switch. Buy the fixture yourself and then hire a plumber for less than an hour for the switch out.
