Fixed/Guaranteed week question

I am usually pretty good with figuring out my use year, December, this time I’m confused.

I have a December use year but a fixed week for October. I borrowed for a cruise swap from my fixed week contract, but I left 2025 points alone. Disney books for me 12 months out, this means I will not be able to stay for my fixed week until October 2025 or 2026?

That makes my head hurt lol. If each December you are applying the points for the next October trip, it makes sense if your December 2025 points are fully intact, they would be for a 2026 trip? I would 1) check with Member Services in writing - I am a bit skeptical about stuff they "tell" me if it's important; and 2) next time consider renting out your points and paying cash for a cruise, quite a few people have done the math and noted the use of points for a cruise is a bad trade for DVC members. Although I know sometimes we just go with the easiest approach

We did the cruise swap with another company so it wasn’t bad with the exchange.

We have two fixed week contracts, one in September and the other in December. Each year, for the reservation to be confirmed automatically by Member Service, all points must be available. Member Services will not borrow points to complete the reservation.

I think whichever UY you borrowed the points from, that is the fixed week that can’t/won’t be automatically booked at 12m.

Did you buy direct through a Guide who set that up? If so, that guide should be fired. That seems like the worst UY you could possibly get for an October FW. You will need to be sure of your October plans by July every year, otherwise you will only have a month to use the points...

Yes I purchased direct through my guide, at the time I had 4 contracts all with a December use year so she said I can only have that same use year. I don’t mind I like my use year.

I have never had a problem using my points, they book one year in advance, I believe I have the same windows as with my Dec use year.

I mean, I'm sure that it's manageable. But you literally have the least amount of flexibility with your FW that you can possibly have. Good luck.

And no, you don't have to have the same UY for multiple contracts.
