Five Years is a long time to wait…Day 8 & 9 Plans!

Day One! May 30!! 37 days away!!!

Is that enough exclamation points for you?

When planning the trip I had waivered between flying in last our first night or flying in early the next morning. Well it turns out it was cheaper to fly in the night before and stay overnight at POR than to fly in the next morning, plus the added bonus of an extra morning waking up at Disney! :goodvibes:goodvibes

Our day will begin with DH heading to work and DS heading to school like normal. DD will be staying with me, where ever I am, since her class has a field trip that day and there is no way that she will get back in time to leave.

I am still unsure if I am going to take the day off of work, I am going to try to but it is the last day of school for the preschool that I work at, so it is a busy day there. My fear is that I will get there and get pulled in to work, and not get out on time, and begin my vacation stressed out. My hope is that DD and I can enjoy the morning getting a pedicure::yes::, which is how I explained away her missing the field trip. I am so lucky my kids do not ask many questions sometimes! If I end up going to work then we will plan our pedicure for the night before, and I will come up with another excuse for DD that day.

1:30 PM: DH should be home from his half day at work that is when we will set our surprise in motion. We live across the street from the school so one of us will pick DS up and bring him home for the surprise.

The surprise:
Our plan is to have a big box filled with tissue paper and at the bottom two t-shirts that say "I'm Going to Disney World" along with a note that says something to the effect: We got you these shirts for the day that we go to Disney World.... so go ahead and put them on!

The surprise continues:
It should be near 2:00 at that time, which is when this will pull up:

The kids are going to be freaking out!!!:faint:

We hopefully will be pulling up to the airport around 3:00PM. I really feel like we need 2 full hours at an airport. Especially this trip because this is our first time flying Southwest and my first time flying out of this airport. :upsidedow I am not sure how loading goes... so this should be interesting. Flying makes DH stressed out!

4:50 PM We're headed to Disney World!

If there are no delays we should be arriving in Orlando at 8:30 PM :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

This will be our first trip using this little gem:

Borrowed from AllEars :)

We are still deciding whether or not we should grab our own luggage or not.:confused3

In no time at all we will be pulling in to Port Orleans Riverside!

I am thinking at some point we are going to need to eat. I am not sure if that will be at the airport or at POR. It will be pretty late getting there...

Suggestions on a place to eat?

Next up our first day at Disney, what are we going to do?

I am glad that your son is doing better, but sorry to hear that your daughter got sick. Hope everyone is 100% now.

Your Day one plans sound great. I love the idea with the surprise and then the limo. The kids will go crazy with that. :)

Have you considered paying the extra fee for "early boarding" on Southwest? It might be a good option for you with the little ones.

I would strongly suggest you take your luggage if you can manage it with the kids. I know they tell you to give it 3 hours after you land which could make it very late and the kids could be sleeping when they knock on the door.

Lorelai is feeling much better now, although this morning she got sick. It is so strange, they get "better" then sick again. Then it is over. I am hoping that it is OVER for good now. She had a special service at church tomorrow but I think we are going to end up staying at home to give her another day of rest.

We did pay for the "early" check in at 36hrs. Hopefully that will get us a good boarding number! On our return flight we are booked through Southwest, but flying AirTran, so we were able to pay for assigned seats for cheaper than the early check in fee for Southwest.:scratchin

Thanks for the advice, I think we will take our luggage. I don't know how tired or wired we will be at that point, but if we are tired, I don't want to wait for our luggage to arrive!;)

Day Two coming up soon, maybe tonight...

Day 2! May 31

I don’t know what could be better than waking up at Disney World, knowing that we have 9 more glorious days to enjoy ourselves! Originally we had planned on staying at AoA for our first two nights, and to be honest I am a little sad that we aren’t. Not enough to change back though! ;)

Does anyone else wish they had enough time and money to stay at every Disney World Resort and eat at every WDW restaurant? Oh the things I could plan if I only had the time and money!! :cloud9:

No park for us today, although I have read that even though our package isn’t valid until the next day, that people have reported using their park tickets early. We aren’t going to try… though it will be hard to be so close to the parks and not go! Instead we will be RELAXING for our first day.:beach:

Breakfast will be in the room. After going back and forth on whether or not to order Garden Grocer, we figured it isn’t worth it. With the DxDDP we are going to have a ton of food and it is easy to throw a couple bottles of wine and muffins into our checked luggage, order some water from Staples and pick up some milk at the resort. Yummy Costco muffins! They are my guilty pleasure, had one this morning in fact.

Our plans for the day are to spend the day relaxing around Ol’ Man Island, but I know my kiddos and that will only last for so long.

My back up plan is to rent some bikes and take a bike ride around Port Orleans and maybe down to FQ. They would all be excited for that! We will pick up a light lunch somewhere, I am hoping for some beignets!!

At some point we will head on down the river to DTD, where I am sad to say that my DS will be crushed to learn that this is no longer there!

He LOVES that ole dino!

I am sure we will spend a while in this area….

Of course we will take the respective pics with all of our favorite plastic princesses:

And then do some shopping!! My kids are going to go crazy when they see the WOD store, they were so young before. I am sure a trip into Goofy’s will be made as well as the Christmas shop and the kitchen shop, before we head here for dinner:

And of course no trip would to T-Rex would be complete without a trip here:

If there is one thing you need to know about my kiddos is that they LOVE :hug:stuffed animals and even more than that, they LOVE Build-a-Bear. DD sleeps with so many stuffed animals on her bed, I am surprised she has room to lay on it comfortably. :confused3 They are going to have so much fun making their own Dino. Thanks to Costco and a promotion at the Build-a-Bear store the last time we were in, I was able to save about 30% on the gift cards. :cool1::cool1:

We might mill around DTD a bit or head back to POR because I we have a date with laughter and fun! I am so excited to be heading to the River Roost Lounge to see YeeHa Bob, you have no idea. popcorn:: I have read so many trip reports with him and I told DH we can’t miss him!

Next up Day 3, Yo ho, Yo ho a Pirate Cruise and a resort move!

Love Day 2 plans! Breakfast, some time at the pool and a bike ride sound like a great way to spend the early part of the day. And I bet you spend a LOT of time in the Lego store. The Christmas shop is one of my favorites. We've never done T-Rex, but I've heard great things about it.

Subbing in! What a fun PTR. It was interesting seeing you change from August to June. Personally, I would have done the same. But I'm impatient by nature.

We drove up to Chicago last month to see the Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives exhibit too. It was really awesome!! We also went up to the Disney Outlet in Gurnee. (I used to live about 15 minutes south of there in Libertyville.) We have a Disney Outlet about 10 minutes from our house in St. Louis, but the Chicago one was WAY BETTER. The outlet in STL is mostly a regular Disney store with a very small clearance area. Not that I'm complaining, it's great having any Disney store 10 minutes from your house :cool1:

My kids are also addicted to Minecraft. If I had a dollar for every hour they spent on it over the last 3 years, I could probably book a few nights at the Poly :rolleyes1

I like that you are starting your trip at Port Oleans. That's my favorite moderate resort. We've stayed at the FQ twice and Riverside once. Lot's of great memories. We especially love the ferry from PO to DTD. So cool! Especially passing the tree house villas, hope to stay in one of them some day :-)

Looking forward to hearing more about your trip. Looks like you have a ton of great meals and activities lined up!

I totally had a full page of typing yesterday.... previewed it... then must have closed it without posting it, because today :confused3.

I am excited about beginning our trip with a relaxing day that is for sure!

I am not too excited about the food at T-Rex, but everyone knows it's all about the atmosphere right! The kids love Rainforest Cafe and we go a few times a year for them, but the food is just so overpriced and BLAH! Luckily I was able to use CC points to get Landry's gift cards so the meal is not OOP!:banana:

:welcome:

No it couldn't have been because I'm impatient...:rolleyes1... or maybe it is..:banana: I have no idea what I am going to do with myself after this... maybe plan a few fake trips, or real one if I am lucky!

They just extended the Walt Disney exhibit until August :cool1::cool1: so I will be able to make another one or two trips. I love all of the history! I love the outlet at Gurnee, it is so big and the CM's are very sweet. They all really love Disney!

My kids are also addicted to Minecraft. If I had a dollar for every hour they spent on it over the last 3 years, I could probably book a few nights at the Poly :rolleyes1

You are preachin' to the choir! DS is going to go through XBox withdraw at Disney! We don't allow XBox during the week, but it is going to be hard for him to be out of school and not have it!

I am very excited to visit and take the boat to DTD! We had a near death experience on our bus ride from DTD, seriously the bus driver was :scared1:!

Looking forward to hearing more about your trip. Looks like you have a ton of great meals and activities lined up!

Stay tuned.... more to come today hopefully... it is sad I have more time to type at work than at home. :rolleyes1

Busy Busy Day!! I should have been doing this: :laundy: or this: :teacher:, but instead I braved the crowds at the mall for Frozen items. :crowded:

We have been on the look out for Anna & Elsa Barbie dolls for months now, but in case you haven't heard Frozen items seem to be a little hard to find.:lmao: So I thought about it yesterday and maybe our local Disney Store was going to do the Elsa dress auction and with it, Frozen items. Turns out they were so of course we had to try right?

So we woke up bright and early to make it to the mall in time. The kids were with us so I let Ethan in on the secret that we wanted to get Lorelai the dolls but we didn't want her to know, and we ask him to help keep her away while we bought the dolls. He was a great big brother and did a wonderful job!

We got to the mall at 9:10am and the store opened at 10:00am, we were about 30 people back in line already! The line grew to a crazy crazy amount of people!

They only had 17 dresses!

The CM's were great playing trivia games with the adults and a few other games with the kids like snow ball fight. It really helped the time fly! DH even got a special Mickey sticker when he was the only adult to shout out "Quasimodo" on Q of the ABC Disney Character game, LOL! The kiddos had a great time!

We ended up getting both an Anna & Elsa doll so SCORE!! DD was so excited about us letting her get Frozen flip flops and a clearanced Minnie plush, she didn't even ask what was in the bag! DS did ask when we were going to give them to her, "She is going to be so excited!" he said, but I just told him that I hadn't decided yet, sometime special. In reality they will go in the
WDW surprise box, or as a Tinkerbell surprise in the room with the Olaf plush for DS that we ordered through Disney Movie Rewards a while ago. I need to find a Dusty plush for DS as well. I am telling you again, my kids LOVE stuffed animals.

We hung around the mall for a while:

Left and went to Ikea for a while, then headed back to the mall to eat at Rainforest Cafe, :lmao:. Don't know why we didn't just stick around the mall. I wanted to pick up lunch at Ikea, but was overruled by the entire remainder of the family! LOL

After a couple more stops at Joanns and Hobby Lobby for me, and Best Buy for DH, where the kids found this:

Notice how they are hold stuffed animals? Told you they loved them!

FINALLY we made it home!! Where Lorelai want to watch Frozen, so of course I watched a bit of it with her. ;) Then I decided to get to work on a few custom shirts that I wanted to make for the kids. I had finished her Elsa dress last night, but no pictures of it yet since she wouldn't stand still long enough while she tried it on.:cool1:

Here are their custom shirts. I am very proud of them! The embroidered letters on the blue and pink shirts was the first time I have ever tried it, I don't have an embroidery machine. I messed up a bit on the L, but Lorelai said she loves it, so I am happy with it.

So now it is off to bed for me!!

The Elusive Dolls

The elusive dolls!!

I braved getting them out of the bag this morning...

They really are pretty dolls. I think that Disney sometimes can make Princess Barbies that look nothing like their cartoon, but these are spot on. Disney Store official dolls often look better than the ones that you can buy at Wal-Mart and Target. She has a Target Jasmine and a DS Jasmine and they look nothing alike!

Congrats on getting the dolls! That is awesome and DD will be so surprised.

Rainforest Café???? :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

The t-shirts are adorable...great job!

You are right...those dolls hit it right on the head.

Having kids is expensive!:lmao:

As much as I dislike Rainforest Cafe, we seem to eat there a lot!! :confused3

I was very happy with the red vinyl iron on shirts! DD and I decided yesterday that we are going to add a Minnie bow to hers. :)

Congrats on the dolls! It seems like crazy talk, but I sort of want to go back to the Disney store this weekend just for the spectacle of it. Watching people get excited and waiting in lines for Disney related stuff seems to help with the Disney bug while we wait for our upcoming trip.... :rotfl:

Day Three!! June 1! Will we finally make it to a park?

We will need to be up bright and early to get some breakfast, most likely in the room, before packing up our stuff for our first move of the trip! My hope is to pack everything that we will need for the first two nights in one suitcase so that we (and by we I mean I ;) ) do not have to repack too many items.

I am more than a little OCD when it comes to packing for a trip like this. I love planning out outfits and corridinating them like any good Diser, but then I go the extra step and put them in gallon bags with undergarmets and label them for each day. This at least uncomplicates things during trips! This trip might get a little more confusing since DD is bringing so many princess dresses, and those won't fit in baggies. Plus she most likely won't wear them for the entire part of the day, so we will bring them with us to change into.

Who knows? That girl wears some strange uncomfortable outfits around the house and out here. :confused3 She wore a Santa Claus themed dress with jeans and ONE pink glove most of the day yesterday. :rotfl2: She wanted to wear it with me grocery shopping but I drew the line, she changed into a regular shirt, but kept the one pink glove on and added Frozen flip flops. She is very particular about what she wears now... that could cause some problems at WDW where everything is pre-planned. :headache:

So back to our day...

I believe I am able to schedule luggage services to come pick up our luggage for the transfer... at least I think I am. I need to research that a bit more.

Then we are headed down to the old Sassagoula River again, this time for a Pirate Adventure Cruise! DS did this when were here in 2009 and LOVED it, when we told them about the August trip, one of the first things DS ask was if they got to go on a Pirate boat!

Here is DS going on his Pirate Adventure out of the GF:

I love that photo, because all of the kids look sad, but they were really all having a blast! We had the YC version booked but I decided to change it to the POR version.

While the kiddos are off searching for their treasure. DH and I will be heading over to the YC to check in and activate our package. Since we are leaving early I have been trying to figure out the easiest and fastest way from POR to YC, and I think we will just use a taxi. We only have 2 hours to get there, check-in and get back. If we have a little time we might explore a bit on our own.

At this point we have been at WDW for almost two days and we haven't even stepped foot in a park yet.:scared1: So when we pick up the kiddos we will be heading directly to the one and only:

After making our first trip down Main Street we will head over to Be Our Guest for lunch. My guess is that the kids might not be that hungry since lunch is included for the pirate cruise, but they can split a meal or just have a cupcake. Everything is better with a cupcake right?

We have a FP for lunch, but as of yet, we haven't technically been invited. :confused3 Don't know why they wouldn't want to invite us, we are lovely people. ;) If the FP doesn't work, we are okay with standing in line, as long as it isn't crazy!! I didn't even try for a dinner ADR because the food at Be Our Guest isn't that appealing to us, and it is really all about the atmosphere and DH wants to eat here:

Which we can choose if we are eating lunch.

We also have a few FP+ set up, the first one is Lorelai's first costume change:

We will meet:

but seeing as we are dining with her later, we are really in it for:

Tangled is one of my favorite new Disney movies, so I am excited!

We also will be taking a couple trips on some trains around the MK, namely

and

.

I would really like to leave the MK by 4:00 to get back to the resort, to possibly swim or rest and get cleaned up for dinner.

We have an 8:00 ADR for Ohana, which is a first for us, and DH is a meat eater so he is excited. I made the ADR just for him!

After stuffing ourselves with goodies, we are heading back over to the MK to enjoy EMH until 2am! I am not how far into the EMH the kids will last, but we will go until we feel like leaving. :woohoo::woohoo: I didn't plan an early ADR for the next day just in case!

I am sure we will DRAG ourselves back to the YC late and fall into bed! :lmao:

Next Up... Dining With Jedi Mickey!

Looks like a fun first day in the parks!

I love the idea of sending the kids off to search for treasure while you head over to settled in at YC. Seems like a good way to make the transition between hotels go a little bit smoother :thumbsup2

And then dinner at 'Ohna! Awesome!!! That's one of my favorite restaurants. I don't recall reading if you've been there before, but your kids will love the coconut races :cool2:

I sure wish they'd had that stuff when my kids were little. The boys would have loved that pirate cruise.

:yay::yay::yay: you are finally going to a park. And what a great first choice. And I love where you are having lunch (we hope to have lunch there in September). And on vacation cupcakes are acceptable items for any meal.

So glad you got Mine Ride FP+. :)

The idea of switching resorts not once, but twice, stresses my husband out more than a little! :confused3 So I am trying to make it the least disruptive as possible.

I am excited about 'Ohana! It seems like it is the "hot" ticket for sure, other than BOG! We were extremely lucky to get 8pm! I am sure the kids will have a great time!

I agree the Pirate Cruise is a great invention!

I have a feeling we will be eating a lot of cupcakes!! :lmao:

So many things going on, and I don't even have the time to type them! I'll try and fit in a quick update though...

Right now I am sitting at Panera with the intentions of studying for my final next week. I would be doing more studying if it wasn't for the LARGE table of women who apparently haven't seen each other in very long time and have a lot to complain about!:lmao: I have headphones on and they are quite a ways away but they are so LOUD!! I would go to the library, but they don't feed me.;)

I just finished 3 discussion points for my American History points on Thursday night. Between now and next Friday, I have 8 travel assignments due, 3 followups for history, a 50 question history test, two 500 word essays for history and the kicker is the 5 page history essay final that is due on Friday. :faint:

This history class has kicked my you know what, with the amount of time it requires. So far I am carrying a 96% in the class, if I can maintain an A I will have a huge accomplishment to celebrate in Disney. You would think I was focusing on history, but it is just a elective, I am in school for meeting & event planning with a concentration on travel. And the travel classes were HORRIBLE!! Awful teacher!!!:worried: I really learned nothing. :confused3

So back to Disney, which I now have given myself 7 more minutes to think about before back to school work.

We received our package welcome package and in it was the vouchers for Disney Quest. We had not planned on doing DQ, since we would have to buy two more tickets, and DD wouldn't be interested. So I mentioned it to DS and DH, and DS was SOOOO interested in going. :confused3 Imagine that a boy wanting to play video games. ;) So I am now in the process of changing one of days around, moving ADR's and trying to figure out what DD and I will do while DS and DH go to DQ.

I right now hold 3 ADR's for that night. I know shame on me! But I haven't decided what to do yet. First we have our original early Coral Reef ADR, I kept it in case things don't work out and I go back to our original plan. Then I have an 1900PF ADR for DD and I, which we would follow up with some time at the MK together. Finally I have a late Raglan Road ADR that would give DS and DH time to play at DQ and DD and I to do some shopping and/or relax at the resort and then head to DTD, before meeting up at RR to eat. Which way will it go?:confused3 Not sure, I plan on concentrating on it after next Friday.;)

Getting so close!!! Less than 3 weeks to go! Everything is set up with the school and their teachers, and they will "check-out" of school a week early with no problems. I hate the winter! If we didn't miss so many days for -40 temps they wouldn't have missed any school.:rolleyes2

Okay now back to work!!! Wish me luck!!

Good luck. Stay focused. And keep your eye on the prize :cool1:

Thanks! It was a heavy day of school work, but the end of my first semester is in sight. :cool1: Let me tell you that if I could talk to myself when I was 18 and I would tell myself that going to school before you get married and have children, and not taking a break, is the way to go if you ever want to sleep! :lmao: I have 90% of my history class finished, just need to write a 5 page essay on Abraham Lincoln and the succession of the southern states. Piece of cake right?? :thumbsup2

I was up until 2am last night working. The kids were up late as well so we all overslept today and so no Mother's Day service at church.:headache: I made a deal with myself yesterday, that I would work as hard as I could on Saturday so that I could take Mother's Day off. It was nice to spend the day with my husband and kids today without thinking about work or school!

After waking up late, my husband and kiddos and even the dog gave me their wonderful cards and gifts.

My gifts showed that my family REALLY knows me!! :goodvibes My son gave me a hot pad decorated with a Mickey Head and his attempt to spell Elsa , my daughter gave me coupons for hugs, kisses and wink :lovestruc and my wonderful husband who knows me very well gave me $100 in Disney Gift cards for me to spend on our trip:hug::hug:!

They also gave me lots of hugs and kisses!!

Since we didn't make it to church, we decided to head out to breakfast at IHOP, which was crazy busy!! Returned a few things at Target, and hit the travel aisle while there. On our way home I mentioned to DH that I would love to go to the outlet mall to pick up new Crocs for the kids since they both outgrew theirs from last year. So that is what we did. Let me just say that we are NOT use to hot weather, and it was only mid 80's today. We are going to have quite a time in WDW.

We enjoyed a bit of shopping at the outlet mall. The kids each picked up a pair of Crocs and a couple of Jibitz for them. We hit the UnderAmour store for DS who would live in UA clothes if we let him. He loves the feel of them and they do seem to hold up better than other brands we have tried. I seriously dance every time I find an UA brand compression shirt or pants for him at Goodwill!! People must think I am insane!:lmao: We were all hot and need a bit of a cold sugar pick me up, so on our way home we stopped at Sonic for some happy hour slushies.

DD and I then headed back out almost immediatly to meet up with friends at the theater. The local Studio Movie Grill was having a special showing of Mary Poppins that I bought ticket to about a month ago! Happy Mother's Day to me!!

I finished the day by putting away laundry and cleaning the shower!! What a wonderful mother's day it was!

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mothers, grandmothers, aunts, god-mothers, and sisters out there!

*********************

I am hoping to type up plans for Day 4 tomorrow at work ;) which will be our first day at DHS!!

I am such a Debbie Downer today!:( I don’t know what it is, whether it is the weather, BLAH rain rain rain! On top of that, even though the temperature outside is nice and cool, due to the rain of course, they will NEVER figure out how to fix the air in my office! In the winter I FREEZE and use a space heater and dress in layers, and during the summer it is like a sauna! Right now it is balmy in my office, warm and muggy! I feel like crawling under my desk in sleeping! Only one hour until I leave, but that hour is going to feel like 10! :surfweb:

To be honest this is the first time today that I have been able to take a break from work. Super busy around here! It is less than three weeks until the school year is over here, and that means it is little over a month until our summer camp starts. Everything runs here at the last moment, so I know that the last few days that I am working before vacation are going to be PACKED. On top of regular church goings ons, we have our annual Family Conference that will be beginning June 18; things are stacking up that need to be done for that!

I really hope that I wake up by the time I get home because I have to start my history paper! I am thinking that fruit, hot dogs and chips will be for dinner tonight so I can get some writing done!

So on to the IMPORTANT things, Disney of course. I know that I am only up to posting Day 4, but that is because so much keeps changing on Day 5! Originally it was a simple MK morning/ Epcot evening, but nothing is ever that simple. I had originally scheduled an early Coral Reef ADR, but after reading A LOT of bad reviews and adding Disney Quest to our schedule that evening that was out the door.

So back to the drawing board… or the DVC dining app… which happens to be my favorite “favorite” on my computer, and the AllEars menu page. After reading way to many menu’s and trying to decide what was worth a dining credit and what wasn’t (btw Beaches & Cream, which I really wanted to make the cut, just doesn’t:worried: ) I finally decided that I would make a lunch ADR that DH wouldn’t normally pick, but I would. Where is it?

I wanted it to be on the monorail loop, so easy access from the MK and back to Yacht Club….

Someplace with a good adult menu, but a friendly kid’s menu...

Somewhere to get something “different” than all the other food we would be eating the rest of the week…

And lastly somewhere with light options, we will be having CP for breakfast so I want a lightish lunch to hold us over until our very late dinner ADR

Where did I decide on you ask?

Kona Café! The sushi did it for me! Now I am not a huge fan of sushi, except certain kinds. I don’t like fish... or cucumbers… that limits it. What I LOVE is crab sushi! And the Kona Café sushi menu has a California Roll that looks YUMMY! Then I was reading a dining report and saw something that wasn’t on the AllEars menu…

Crab Rangoon Sushi!!!

The decision was made. I know the sushi counts as an appetizer, but I wonder if it it can count as a entrée too. I would love to try both the California Roll and the Crab Rangoon Roll, if not I will pick something else. I had read in another dining report a while ago (maybe Brenda’s?) that the steak at Kona was actually pretty good, that should make DH happy. Plus their kid’s menu is good for my kiddos!

So all that work into one ADR choice!!

I hope to type up Day 4 soon…. maybe later when I take a break from writing my history essay?

In other Disney news, I spoke to a friend of mine last night who will be in Florida the last week of June and has never been to WDW. She is hoping to go for two days and has a strict budget! So I offered to help try and fit as much as I could into her budget. I am so excited to run more Disney numbers!! It is an addiction really... It will be a very busy time for them to visit, so I am hoping to help her understand FP!!
