Fitting in Seven dwarfs mine train

Just so everyone has another visual with the measurements:

Damn it. We have waited for this trip to do the mine train, and my freaking lymph filled legs won't fit. I measure 19".

Guess I will get a FP+ (if I can) to be in line with my family, but that will be it. :sad2:

I just rode this on Wednesday. I am 5'4 and wear a size 24. It wasn't as roomy as EE, but the fit was comfortable with some room left for me.

I am smallish, but was put into a car with a single rider who was Pooh-sized. He had a tough time fitting his bag in between his legs, but he did it. I could tell he was uncomfortable, but still seemed to enjoy the ride. I don't think he was thrilled about being seated with someone else though.

I will say--the car swings more if the riders are heavier. We swung a lot--it was great!

Ouch! Those restraints look silly uncomfortable. I'm a bigger gal but don't typically have trouble fitting on even regular rollercoasters...and NONE at all at WDW. But the design of those restraints are ridiculous! I've been on high thrill giga-coasters (a coaster 300 ft or higher) with less constricting restraints (a T-bar pull down lap bar and a seatbelt underneath). I'm not quite sure what the reasoning was behind having the sides to the lap bar. I bet just a one sided lapbar would alleviate a lot of these complaints/concerns. I also have "thick thighs" and measured about 5 inches above the knee and i measure 14.5-15 inches but can squeeze tight to make it 13.5. Can already tell this will be uncomfortable but I'll deal!

Just seems silly to me considering Everest is a thrill coaster and doesn't even have restraints like this. I understand this is considered a "family coaster" and aimed towards children but a regular lap bar would have done just fine as to accomodate larger adults comfortably.

Just wanted to chime in. This thread had me really worried and actually made me dread riding sdmt. Then I rode it and all of that went away. I'm a big guy and it's not as bad as you might think. The knee squish is the worst part and as long as you only bring it down a little ways you'll be fine. Seats aren't that bad and didn't hurt my butt. Maybe it's my shape or whatever but I was very worried going in and came off with a big grin on my face. So don't be too freaked out by this thread.

Does anyone have a comparison to - say - the barnstormer? I have always been able to ride at Disney even at 5'7" and size 24/26ish. Majority of excess weight primarily tummy. But the barnstormer is the tightest fit I've experienced yet. To say I am worried about 7DMT would be an understatement.

I know this is a "kiddie ride" but would like to try once. Just hoping for a comparison.

Sorry if this has been addressed recently, but I have not kept up with the thread. I am fairly certain that I will not fit, but DH & DS will still ride. Has Disney been doing anything, such as an extra FP, if you try but are not able to ride?

Me too! Anyone who has done both, what did you think?

The bar stormer is a different kind of tight and you can ride alone if you want, not so with the mine train.

Barnstormer is tight for two adults. I am 5'4 170lbs most of my weight is on my hips and thighs. My friend is about 5'5 200 lbs and our hips were plastered to the side of the ride and we were practically sharing breathing space. Barnstormer also is HARD fiberglass material. The back rest sucks.

7DMT the seats are molded and cusion-ish. I boarded first and got sat with a stranger. He was about average and the fit was snug but not Barnstormer tight. For those with bags and whatnot put the bag between your legs or at your feet before you sit down.

Went on this yesterday. I was very nervous about DH fitting. He is 6' and built like a football player. He has very thick thighs. He did fit but was not very comfortable. I was not very comfortable but luckily it was a short ride. We took the advice of not bring the lap bar all the way down. They made me pull mine down more though it made it tighter.

I rode about a week ago--5'4, size 26/28, "tree trunk" legs. I'm still roughly the same size as I am in the picture below, to give you an idea. I rode with my friend who is also plus-sized, her legs are slimmer, but hips are wider or as wide as mine. After reading this thread, I was terrified I wouldn't fit.

We fit with absolutely no problem in the car together (and I very bluntly asked the attendant if we would fit in a car together), but it was a TIGHT squeeze on my legs--pulled the bar down no problem, still locked even at a higher point, but my legs were completely immobilized and wedged in--made for a rough trip on the turns, but since it was short, it wasn't the end of the world. I don't think I'd have done it again this trip, but I'm inspired to work a little harder to lose weight for next year.

Thank you for your information and sharing the photo as a guide. My legs I would describe the same as you did. Sigh. So there is hope that I may just may fit my legs in Thank you!

No problem--it might not be really comfy, but for two minutes, you can do anything. It was super cute and totally worth it, even with the discomfort. Good luck!!

Hey guys! I was one of the lucky few that was able to ride it before the soft opening during the 24 hour day. Also the 5'0 110 pound girl. I carry most of my weight in my bum and thighs, and am very very pear shaped. Boyfriend who weighs more and is taller fit better than I due to weight distribution. It was especially a little snug after riding big thunder. While everyone has different levels of comfort and I wasn't uncomfortable by any means for me, it just felt really narrow for a Disney ride. If that makes sense lol.

Thank you! I really really appreciate you posting a photo of yourself and saying that you fit :) it really helps those of us in the same boat...err...swinging car... understand whether or not it will truly be an issue or not. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

It seems that people are exaggerating as the vast majority of pooh sized people are fitting.

You give me hope. And thanks for the picture of you, that so helps. My question to anyone is do we have an actual measurement of the space in the lap bar of the Mine Train as compared to EE. I ride EE with no problem and have ridden it 4 times almost back to back with no issue. So I was trying to compare the two with actual measurements.

I just wanted to ease people's minds. I was very nervous about being too fat to ride (which has never even happened EVER on a Disney ride, in fact I never worried about this until I read posts on the thread about it being tight :headache:)

Anyways, I am 5'3" 209lbs and have beautiful thunder thighs. I was so happy because I pushed the bar down (legs squeeze between two bars on either side) and it locked no problem. I felt so dumb for worrying.

In fact, my legs were banging around from side to side during the ride, which means there was room for more fat if needed!

I didn't feel uncomfortable or anything, but maybe because I Was so excited to ride it!
