fitting 5 people in regular room

So my family is making a trip to Disney in October 2014. We are trying to be as budget-friendly as possible. We are driving from Ohio and can easily take an air mattress to put in a room for 4 at a disney resort for our preschooler but my concern is that we would end up getting in trouble with tickets and meals. We are hoping to get the free dining deal but if we have only put in 4 family members we would have to buy our preschooler's tickets and meals separately. Will they let us do that? I really don't see how they could tell us no. Thoughts?

From what others have posted, I'm sure you get the idea that the risk of breaking the rules is certainly not worth it. PO Riverside has rooms for 5 guests and there are suite options as well. One thing I didn't see is you may want to look into renting DVC points. That can be cheaper and you can get a larger space to accommodate 5 people. Otherwise, I agree that offsite may be your best bet.

I don't think the OP is coming back. Didn't get the answer she was looking for.

I think so too. I read a recent post on another thread where a frequent poster and Disney regular who has a family of five explained that they plan on doing what the OP of this thread described! Their youngest child turned three a month or so ago but they explained that they booked just one room at a value resort for their trip this month under the September free dining deal and they will claim that their three year old turned three during the trip and buy this child's meals separately :sad2:. Makes me wonder if the OP (who only has one post) and that poster are the same person? Sad how people who are Disney regulars that know the rules are willing to try to go around those rules because it is convenient for them! It's also sad that this poster's "Disboards friends" that replied after her didn't call her out on this as against Disney's policies or even warn her that she may get kicked out of the room for trying this. If you know that you are a family of five or larger and you can't afford to get two rooms, a suite, or a room that accommodates five people then it's not the end of the world to just stay offsite or even (gasp) POSTPONE your trip until you have the money to do things the right way :sad2:

Not worth it. There are too many clues when one child doesn't have a KKTW card.

"This makes me wonder...we are a family of five and are staying at CBR but our youngest is on our in-laws reservation because we are traveling with them and sil/bil. We requested adjoining rooms and figure the kids will take turns in grandma and papa's room....wonder if we'll get flagged for questions? ??? "

This is what we are doing at CSR next year, one child will be staying with gma and gpa...however if people want to accuse me because they see me with 3 kiddos, they can go right ahead....I paid for both rooms so they can stick it :)~ Business class rooms no less.

We did this a few years ago. But I just paid my son's portion to my dad. So my son had a KTTW card. There were 17 of us in several rooms. The cousins were constantly sleeping in different rooms just to hang out together. I wonder what mousekeeping thought of that.

I think I'd maybe try to go with one of the bigger rooms or two values OR since you're driving, rent off site. Places like Windsor Hills can be priced amazingly low for great accommodations. In May we had a three bedroom Condo with a full kitchen and washer dryer, two full bathrooms for $70/night. Now I did get a small discount because we wanted the exact days they had open amongst other days already booked but even without the discount it would've only been $75 per night. I know a lot of them offer discounts and deals for renting a week at a time too. The drive to Disney is very short so that wasn't a concern. You will want to factor in parking, though.

You won't have free dining with this option but I bet you'd still save a bundle. Eat breakfast at the condo, pack snacks and water in a backpack, some people pack things they can eat for lunch in their backpack, split counter service meals to save some more money. I bet you'll still come out ahead, budget wise.

You could buy a tent that fits five and stay at the Campgrounds. October should actually be pretty good for Camping. It is actually cheaper than a Value Resort. Just bring a mat or tarp to help against the sand.
