Can anyone describe the "fitness" options available on the Magic? I understand there is one at the Spa. Does it cost extra? What kind of equipment do they have. Are there any other fitness centers on the ship? And, if so, what's available at them? Any information you could provide would be a great help.

Thanks,
Greg

There is a fitness center inside the spa. It does not cost extra. I think you can even use the locker room for free. There are seven treadmills, a couple ellipticals, some free weights, a few weight machines, maybe some other stuff. I assume facilities are more or less identical on Magic & Wonder.

I had a hard time getting straight answers from the Spa staff. It seems the only thing they understand is selling something.

There are some photos of the fitness room....you can get to them by going to www.dcltribute.com and going down to the external links section, and choosing the "Platnium" link. There may be other photos elsewhere, I just don't know where! There are photos of the fitness room in the spa section. Looks like cybex equipment, which is what my gym uses. Also, they offer fitness classes...step, cardio kickbox, yoga, etc. Some of those classes cost $10 each and they are limited to a small amount of people. The cardio closet...Ooops, I mean room, is quite small.

And it should be noted that no one under age 18 is allowed in the Fitness Center....except for 2 30 minute sessions when the kids clubs go each week.
My DS 16 was VERY disappointed in that. We went New Years Eve week, and he wanted to stay in shape for baseball conditioning that started the day we got back.

I used the finess center 5 out of 7 days on our 7/17/04 western. I am a die hard elliptical user and LOVED their machines. Very smooth and gave me a great workout. Makes my nice Nordic Track elliptical look kind of wimpy now!

Sounds like the equipment is first rate! Hopefully I'll have an hour a day to check it out. Any suggestions on times that may be less crowded?

Thanks,
Greg

Should I pack a CD player? I like to have something on while I am on the tredmill but a TV would do also. Thanks:D

I'm so glad you posted this -- my dh and I are elliptical freaks, and we were concerned about the quality on the ships. We figure that 60 minutes on the elliptical should burn off a dessert. :drinking1

The fitness area equipment is all first rate....particularly the treadmills, which overlook the bridge -
