Fitness center at DVC resort when not staying there

Two questions - 1) can DVC members use the fitness center at a DVC resort if they are not currently staying at that resort? and 2) if yes, does this require a blue card or can resale/white card owners use it as well? Thanks!

Resort amenities are for use while staying at the resort. Ownership of DVC is fractional, which means you gain access to resort amenities, including pools, parking and fitness centers, when using your points to stay there.

If you are staying at Poly you do get to use the GF fitness center, as it is a shared resource, but you have to be staying at Poly or GF to use it.

The only (very loose) exception to this rule has been pool hopping, which has highly specific rules around it and still requires that you at least be staying on property to access the benefit. Pool hopping is on hiatus and may never resume as it was a really restricted and goofy benefit to administer.

Ok, language I've seen in DVC member perks documents seemed unclear; one doc says: "There is no extra charge for Guests at the Walt Disney World Resort hotel at which they are staying and at any Disney Vacation Club Resort." That seemed to indicate you could use a fitness center at any time regardless of where you stayed but I didn't know if that was an old perk, etc.

I seem to vaguely recall needing to use my Magic Band to unlock the door of the fitness center at BWV. This was during the day, not in the middle of the night or anything.

The language applies when one is booked and staying at the hotel or DVC resort, the DVC resort not being considered a hotel.

You have to have a valid resort room number on your magic band to use the resort facilities. They are all keyed by magic band or the new phone app.

I'm not sure everyone else is correct. The October before Covid I was staying at All Star Music because there was no DVC availability for a last minute F&W trip. I went to AKL for Breakfast at Boma and having arrived 45 minutes early I went exploring as I had just bought at AKL a few months prior. My magic band got me into Zahanati fitness center, YMMV.

I was staying on points at CCV, got a massage at the GF Spa, and worked out (for all of 10 minutes) at the gym there. Don’t know under which authority* it was but it was nice!

The only place I can find that verbiage is in a PDF from 2013. Is it one the website somewhere, or in any current documentation?

I'm not sure everyone else is correct. The October before Covid I was staying at All Star Music because there was no DVC availability for a last minute F&W trip. I could not get in to BWV when staying at RIV in March. I wanted to show a friend while we were walking the boardwalk and tried. No go.
