FITBIT? Has this been discussed?

I've had mine for about a week and a half. I love it! I've been wanting he Nike Fuelband but haven't wanted to spend $150. My husband got the scale for Christmas and so after reading reviews of te Fuel vs fitbit I got the one. I love how it tracks everything. I was going to wait for the band but I really wanted it for Disney next month. I'm so glas I didn't wait!

Okay I just found this thread--after I had ordered my FitBit Zip. It looks like almost everyone here has the One rather than the Zip. I haven't read all the replies, so excuse me if I missed something, but does anyone have any experience with the Zip?

As a "woman of a certain age" my sleep patterns are all over the place, so I figured I really did not want to know! :) Did I make a mistake? The package should be arriving soon. Do you think it is worth sending back the Zip to get the One?

The only functionality difference is the sleep tracker. Ignoring that, I prefer the size of the one. I can clip it inside my bra and no one knows its there. I've also read that the case on the Zip isn't as sturdy as it could be.

I just got my Fitbit yesterday & am already looking at the scale!:cool1:

Do you have any feedback or info on it? I read somewhere that it weighs people about 2 lbs HEAVIER than normal scales. That I would not like. Have you compared it.

ALSO - a really big question - kinda the deal breaker - is it private? Can others tell what you have weighed? Really worried about that part.

Thanks!

Yesterday I set up my FitBit account in anticipation of it arriving today. When I look at my dashboard it's already showing calories burned. Why? How? I'm so confused. :rotfl:

Because just doing nothing at all burns calories, so it is taking into account what your body is using to just keep on going :)

Mine did the same thing - I was so confused as well.

I actually found the opposite to be true. My wight watchers scale was about 1.5-2 pounds heavier depending on the person.

You can choose to make your info public or private. My husband was dissapointed I made mine private. ;-). My daughter's info is public within the family only. I love the scale. I love that it automatically graphs my weight over time.

I don't really care if a scale measures me heavier or lighter. As long as I'm using he same scale I can track if my sigh is going up or down. That's the important thing, not the actual number. KWIM?

Thanks. Really trying to decide if I want to purchase the scale or not. The reviews seem to be a bit mixed, unlike the Fitbit, which has pretty much amazing reviews wherever you look.

Decisions, decisions. :confused3

I agree. I love the scale. It automatically graphs the weight, which is a great feature. I've found it to be as acurate as any other scale. :thumbsup2

I have the Ultra - which I have loved since I got it about 1.5 years ago. I can't wait to see how it does at Disney next week!

That's what I was wondering. Makes sense. Still waiting for the UPS guy. Of course today I've been doing a bunch of errands and not tracking it yet.

Can't help you on the scale. I weigh in weekly through Weight Watchers and track that way. Going to start back up with my Wii fit as well and that's a good weight tracker as well.

Sounds like 2 of you really like it!

Ok - I know it may sound ridiculous, but I don't want a scale that weighs "heavy" even if it is consistent.

So I guess my 2 big concerns are accuracy & privacy. :goodvibes:

Is this the Best Buy one? If so it is no longer valid. Best buy changed the terms and made it a one day noly thing, which expired the 21st. I was bummed when I found that out. :(

Yep. Bummed. I tried it. I pointed out it says the 27th on the coupon, but they have a corporate response/denial of coupon taped to the cashier's counter. The cashier said they had a ton of people try to use it. She guessed it wasn't a legitimate BB coupon to begin with, but that sounds fishy. They were accepting for a day. If it weren't legit they wouldn't have accepted it at all. I'm thinking they just got swamped with people using it for fitbit. So many exclusions, I don't think they thought there would be a $100 product. Maybe they were hoping for larger purchases. I don't know.

But thanks anyway, Lovestoscrap for sharing the coupon. Nice to think of us. :)

I just found and read this thread and have been wanting this for sooo long...if there is a coupon I NEED IT! Please - Please - Please - can you re-post it or post the info where to get it? I am sooo excited and will go today if it expires today....THANKS!!

Best Buy does price match. I tried my retail app. Scanned the barcode in and no luck. I did pull up an online store that had a little better price, but it wasn't local. So I paid full price. Oh well. The cashier did say if I found a better price w/in 30 days I could come in w/ the receipt for the difference. I'll keep an eye out. But it doesn't seem likely.

It would've been awesome to get the discount but I'm still glad I got it.

Actually what happened was when they first released it it had very few exclusions, including gift cards, so people were stocking up on Itunes and Amazon gift cards. Not a bad deal at half price. So once BB got wind of that they changed the entire coupon to add the exclusions and then for whatever reason said it was valid only until the 21st, not the 27th.

Woo-hoo. I'm in business now. All sync'd up and ready to go. Wish it came before I vacuumed though. ;) Of course this is my typical down time for the day. :(

Go into track activities and add your vacuuming. There is actually a set activity for that. I used it last week :goodvibes

Thanks. I like that I can track my blood pressure too. What a great site!

Okay. I'm on the fitbit.com/start/one website. I did as instructed. Held the "on" button until I saw some numbers and a timer? Then I put in the wireless sync dongle. I'm getting a timer and then, I got a, "high 5" message? And now it's blank. It's been blank. Is it supposed to do something?

When I first turned it on it had 135 steps. I hadn't ever used it. Something doesn't seem quite right with this thing.

Help!

ETA: I got a message, "Hi there"? Then blank again. Is that what you guys got? How long does it take to be synced and ready?

ETA #2: I downloaded the fitbit connect. Maybe it will be smooth sailing from here. Off to try.

The "High 5" and "Hi There" are just fun messages it will flash-- called Chatter (you can turn that off in the settings if you don't like it) Just their way of being cute. Put the fitbit down for a minute and pick it up, it should say something to you!

It may have steps on it from being shaken around in the package. Once you get it all set up online it should be working and will be more accurate tomorrow. The display doesn't stay on long. If you don't push the button to see another reading then it turns off so you have the blank screen. I assume this is so it conserves battery life.

A tip I read (maybe on this thread???) is to put in your phone number as the greeting so that if you lose it maybe you can get it back. You can't include area code though.

ETA: Sorry about the coupon thing. I went back and edited as soon as I found out it wasn't going to work, but I probably should have PMd you. :flower3:

No problem about the coupon. Thanks for passing it along. If it had worked that would have been quite the deal!

Thanks for telling us about putting the phone number in the greeting! I'm going to do that right away.

You're right about the jostling of the package.

I got it set up. I didn't know what to make of that thing! It's so compact and 1 button! It's the funniest thing. So small. All the directions were on the website so once I saw that, I was good to go. I'm interested to see last nights and todays results!
