Does anyone here use a Fit Bit?
I'm considering buying one and I want to know if it will accurrately keep tracks of steps while running.
I know it works for walking and steps, but I really want to know if it can track running.
Thanks for any help!

If you use a Garmin, you can use the foot pod to record all of your cadence info, and then extract the step data. You have to do a little math, but it isn't difficult. I took 26,894 steps to finish The Princess.

Derek,
Thanks for the info.
I didn't realize I could get that information off my Garmin.

I probably should have explained my needs a little further.... :rotfl:

We are doing a contest at work where we record our steps each day.
I have a cheap pedometer, but I don't think it is accurately recording.
So I was considering buying a Fit Bit to wear daily, even when running.
I want to make sure it would record running steps as well as normal walking.

For the price of a FitBit, you could get a Garmin foot pod, a nicer digital pedometer, have money left over, AND have something that would be useful for training after the workplace competition is over - and that's coming from a guy who really loves his digital toys! Of course, YMMV...

Love it!
Great advice.
I do have my eye on the new Ipad....

I love my Fitbit. It tracks walking more accurately than any pedometer I've ever had and I find the sleep tracking very interesting.

Fitbit can be calibrated for your running cadence, but I've never bothered b/c I will wear my Garmin anyway.

I just set Fitbit to record an activity, then override that activity with the info from my Garmin by logging it as an activity at the same time. I could actually skip the step of setting Fitbit to record the activity and could even leave Fitbit at home if I wanted too.

Dh and I both have FitBits and we are totally addicted to them. The sleep data is completely fascinating (especially since we have a 4 month old!), but we do wear them while we train AND use a Garmin, and have found the FitBit to be very accurate. I recommend them to anyone who will listen :)
