Have you been in a fist fight as an adult, or if the case applies, a cat fight?

No, and I would never throw the first punch, so to speak.

Frankly, any adult who starts a physical fight (NOT reasonably defending themselves against an attack, but actually starting the fight) has serious issues. Part of being an adult is impulse control. It's fine to WANT to hit someone, but violent action isn't acceptable.

I couldn't have said it better. :)

NO, but I have to admit there have been a few family members I would like to punch in the face. :teeth:

My mother would be so ashamed of me if I engaged in that type of behavior. She raised me much better than that and she'd let me know it too! LOL.

Of course I'm sure I would defend myself the best I could if it became necessary though. Thankfully it has not become necessary as an adult since I was probably about 10 the last time I threw a punch at anyone. I'm guessing I'm a little bit rusty.

Sorry, double post!

I voted "no"- I'm not a fighter.

But, about 17 years ago, when I had been out of college a couple of years, my best friend was dating a real jerk. DH (then DBF) and I went out to a local watering hole with them, and he had way too much to drink and started verbally abusing my friend. I told the jerk to chill out- well, he didn't like that too much. He ran right at me, and pushed me hard into a waitress. We both fell down- the bar called the police. I had a big lump on my head, and so did the poor waitress. We were asked to leave, and the police let us go home without anyone being arrested (jerk was the only one drunk). Thinking back on it now, I should have pressed charges. The worst thing? My friend actually married the jerk a few years later- only lasted 3 years, thank goodness.

Technically, it wasn't a fight, since the term implies both people involved actually hitting each other. I did no hitting- I just got hit.

Hi all,
While i don't think this counts, a few years ago some nut bag hopped up on PCP called 911 to report his house was on fire and he was trapped in the bedroom and could not breath,he also failed to tell the 911 dispatcher he had been doing PCP for the last 12 hours straight.Upon arrival me and my crew found a roll of paper towels set on fire on the stove that was easliy put out and when my captain walked into the bedroom to find the caller and let him know all was ok,my captain was hit over the head with a lamp causing him to get 30 stiches and this mad, naked man ran into the living room and began a full assault on us the FDNY,we ended up fighing him to the floor and holding him there until the NYPD came and hancuffed him.He sent 4 of my guys including me to the emergency room that night,One of my guys kevin had his eyebrow split open,my captain had a severe concussion and was admited over night and got 30 stiches,i had my face x-rayed for a broken cheeck bone which i did not have and jimmy had 2 broken ribs. This one guy took out 5 guys in the FDNY in 2 minutes flat,it was a really unreal. He later told the NYPD that he thought we were there from the Gov't to kill him.Too bad he was wrong,I'm sure contract killers that work for the gov't make a lot more money than i do and therefor are able to go to disney world more often than i can :teeth: .All kidding a side,it went from simple fire to all out horror movie gone wrong real fast in that apt that night. He was ordered by the judge to write us a "i'm sorry letter" which to this day we still have not recieved at the fire house.other than this and other close calls while on duty, the last time i was in a true fist fight i was 9.

I voted no although I have been threatened with a baseball bat and an extension cord by two crazy parents and I was once punched in the chest by a student. I've also been punched accidentaly countless times breaking up fights at school. It's a good thing that I'm not a fighter or I would have been fired a long time ago. I've seen my share of adults fighting. A couple years ago we had an awful group of students. At first we couldn't figure out why they were so bad but it soon became clear when we had to start calling the police weekly because we had parents at the school trying to fight other people's children. We even had a huge fight between two entire families. Two mothers came up for suspension hearings because their daughters had been fighting and the next thing you know we've got aunts, uncles, cousins, and siblings of the two girls fighting in the school. It was definitely hard to teach that day when the entire street was full of police cars.
