Hello All!

As stated, I am a very anxious First Timer to WDW, and I am seeking advice from all you pros...

Which do you think are the best "islands" to stay at if you are looking for a little more quiet? i also don't want to be too far away from everything. I have been looking at Aruba 51 (hubby is a smoker). Has anyone stayed in this area? I have checked out many sites and am looking for some personal oppinions...

Also, we will be arriving at the hotel around 11:30am. What are some suggestions to do with our first day? Looking forward to all advice!!!

Welcome to the DIS boards! :)

Aruba 51 is a great area if you want to be a bit further from the main pool and food court, without being TOO far away. I have stayed in Martinque 25 which is one of the closest buildings to Old Port Royale and each time, it was ALWAYS quiet. None of the buildings at CBR are right on top of OPR. Some of just more of a walk than others. I have a lot of pictures of CBR on my web sites, the links are below.

On your first day, if you don't want to go to a park, you can walk around the grounds of CBR and get yourself acquainted with everything there. You can rent small power boats called "water mice". I have some pictures of these on my web site. I believe they also have larger pontoon boats you can rent. They are individual as well as surrey bikes to rent, too. Or you can go to Downtown Disney and walk through the shops there. Or you can check out some of the other resorts. A lot of fun is taking the monorail around through the 3 monorail resorts; Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian. I'm sure you'll get more suggestions from other people too :)

Have a great trip and if you have any more questions, just ask! :)

My fiance' and I stayed in one of the Aruba buildings this past July (don't remember what # though). We were on the first floor and we didn't hear a thing. It was nice and quiet and when we walked to get our drinks and food in the morning, although it isn't right around the corner from everything, we always enjoyed the walk. It's such a beautiful, scenic area to walk through.

We arrived around 12 and we decided to hit the parks right away. We just couldn't stand to wait, the anticipation of getting there got us so excited that we went to Magic Kingdom right away. I guess it all depends if you want to go to one of the parks right away or you could always walk around CBR, take a bus downtown, go for a nice dinner. My preference would be to go to one of the parks, but that's just my opinion.

Whatever you decide, I'm sure you'll have a great time. Enjoy!

thanks for the info! Seaspray, i have been to your site, great job! I also took a look at your vacation photos, too! I just know that we are going to have a great time!
