Just wanted to let anyone interested know that the fishing excursion was the best part of both my DS (4) and DD (8) recent trip. It was our first time fishing for largemouth bass at Disneyworld. Our guide, Missy, was just great. I think the final count was 15 fish and DD won the largest fish at about 4 1/2 lbs. We were also fortunate enough to see an eagle swoop down and snatch a luckless bass from the lake. An osprey trailed behind just in case I guess. Wish we could have got that on videotape. Missy introduced my DS to her friend George at another of her hot spots. George is a blue heron who seemed to enjoy eating shiners as much as my son enjoyed feeding them to him. This was really a great family fishing experience. As I told our guide "the kids really had fun....but just the kids".... wink-wink. I like to think I'm a seasoned fisherman and this was a very enjoyable experience. I don't think you'll go wrong here.

Nu Husky... That sounds like a lot of fun? We will be staying there next month with DS4 and DS7. DS7 got a fishing pole for his birthday in October and I spent a few (very cold) afternoons trying to catch those cold, half-hibernating Michigan fish in November. How much does the fishing excursion cost? How long did it take? I assume they provide poles, etc... Thanks!

I know that when we went from the Gf they supplied everything - including coffee, bagels, and hot chocolate. For 5 of us I think it cost us $225.00 with tax. We also tipped our guide (which was coincidently, Missy)

Our trip started about 07:00 and we were back at the W/L dock at 09:20. For the Bay Lake excursion they pick you up at GF/CT/Poly/FW and WL. We went on the 2 hour trip which was about right for DS 4. All fishing equipment and snacks were provided. Their rates varied based on what time you selected. It was roughly $190 leaving at 7 AM, $180 for 9 AM and I think $170 for 1PM. Then they add tax. Our party was 4. I don't recall what the max was. We were there for 8 days and the trip was a great break from the parks. There are other fishing trips. Some are just for kids, although I don't know much about them. If you go don't forget the camera and a videorecorder. It was almost as much fun watching the kids catch'em again on the tape. Good Luck.

NUHusky, my husband lives for those fishing excursions. And once we got Missy a few years ago, we request her every time we're back. She is a real hoot and my family adores her. I am so happy to hear that she is still with WDW. Our next trip will be in the Fall and my husband will be requesting Missy again.

Glad to hear from you. I wanted to say thanks. I used the search function to look for reports on the fishing excursion prior to deciding to give it a try and your posts were a great help. Good luck in the fall.

NUHusky, thanks for the kind words. If I have anything that I think might be of value to *someone,* I try to pass it along. I, too, have learned much from my fellow Dis'ers. When my husband comes home from work this evening, I am going to mention Missy to him (I forgot to do it the other night, oops!). ;)

Do you have any photos to post of your fishing excursion?
