Anyone been having any luck fishing at the fort when i stayed 11/12-11/27 i tried by the bike barn i could see fish jumping but couldn't get a bite i tried plastic worms small and large ,spinner baits ,buzz bats ,crank baits both surface and shallowdivers ,i even tried the floating fly No luck
at my site 1400 loop i tried in the canal also only way i caught any wa by using bread to lure them in and putting bread balls on a hook then i caught bluegills and what looked like a big shiner i think they call them chubsone was almost a ft long but that was it :confused3

My Dh has. He also did one of those guided fishing trips and the guide said that the fish wont bite unless it is shiners or something similar. My DH never caught anything on the Fort. On the lake, he caught a few. If you really love to fish, you can go to Lake Toho. He caught at least an 8 pound bass. Now we take the day off (pool) and he goes fishing.

I almost forgot, He didn't catch anything at the fort but he did see a bald eagle and the "otters". So it was worth it.

DB and the boys caught a few sunfish by the dock behind meadows. They were using hot dogs and bacon for bait. The fish loved it and it kept the kids occupied, but only about 5 that were actually caught.

DH caught a few sunfish near the Meadows pool. Can't remember what he was using for bait. I think just a little plastic lure.

My little girl caught her first fish this weekend. She was using bread for bait, down near the dog park.

Of course no one had a camera, so they had to put water in the tackle box while my dad ran back to the rv to catch her first fish on film.

I'm pretty sure it was literal beginners luck, because there was quite a crowd down there, and Juliette had just thrown in her line, and she got one. She is so pleased, it's all she's talked about for a day now. Obviously, we're not avid fishermen.

Caught in the mid 1990's just over the bridge to the CG on a surface popper. During the 1990s I caught one or two slightly smaller either in the main canal going into the lake near the 1600 loop and also just across the bridge to the Meadows between the bridge and the first bend.

Thats why it's called fishing,, if it was catching,,everyone would do it.

Theres all kind of variables that have to do with if the fish are biting or not,,season, water temps, barometric pressure, location, water clarity, baits,,,
that being said, we have fished the lake and the Forts canals countless times,,yes we have caught some big beautiful fish over the years, in all the waters and from the shore lines. We have also had some not so good days.
Next time ya'll are headed to the Fort (an gonna fish), let us know and we'll help with some suggestions.
And hey,,bluegills can be lots of fun too, especially if you use a very light weight pole and line.

Happy Fishing Ya'll !!!

Nice bass Larry i caught 3 about that size last year while i fished the lake behind the 300 loop the biggest was close to that the other 2 a little smaller
