Fishing at Port Orleans???

I read something that you can go fishing at Port Orleans. We aren't interested in taking a boat, is their a pier or something to fish from? Do you pay to rent poles, etc?

My parents are joining us for 5 of our 8 day stay and my dad loves to fish and loves to take my kids fishing. I have so much I want to do while they are there, but I also want to give them time to relax and enjoy thier vacation so thought throwing a little fishing excursion into our itinerary would make him very happy (he was a little worried when he saw that I was making an itinerary, LOL!!!)

Can anyone give me details on this??

At POR you can fish at the Fishin' Hole. There is a family plan or individually it is $4.02 per half hour. You get a cane pole to use and bait. Looked like fun.

We were there last June. I took my 3 sons fishing at the Fishin' Hole for a couple hours. It was around noon when we went. The boys had a blast trying to catch the fish. We could see the fish, but because of the heat and the time of day, they were not biting at all! We had fun trying. Next time we go (hopefully this summer again), we are going to fish first thing in the morning. I believe the Fishin' Hole opens at 7:00 or 8:00am. Hopefully the fist will be hungry next time.

We took our 2 grandsons fishing 2 weeks ago at POR. (Has it really been such a short time ago?). It's cane fishing. No reel. Put the bait on (they'll give you as much as you need), drop the line and wait. The only catch we had on this particular day was when my son in-law accidently dropped his line between the boards in the walkway and a fish snagged the worm right away! Made for a funny moment. The very next day my son and his girlfriend went and caught about 10 fish. It is catch and release but they had fun none the less. Have a great time
