Just thought I would update.
I have been out trying to work on my FE.
I am also at the same time making pirate vest for the boy's out of the left over material that I had from my FE.
The material is an older Pirates of the Carribean. :woohoo:

Yeah i bought my FE yesterday and it's soooooo COOL!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

So very very cool that i don't show a picture but you just have to come over and see my FE onboard....

I really think that if there would be a most original FE contest, we would definitly win that one....

ok - now that's just not fair.

post a pic Yvet or i'll kidnap one of your magnets :)

I need your help or opinions. I got volunteered to make my sister's FE as well as mine. Not a big deal as I bought enough supplies for both of them anyway except for the material. Here is the problem. My sister is a super girly girl and loves cinderella however her son and DH not so much more of a Lighting MCQueen type. How can I incorporate Cars and Cinderella. I was thinking of doing a solid fabric for the main part and do the pockets in the characters of their choice.

Thanks
Becky

that's exactly what i would do.

choose a background that would go with each of the fabric's you have for them and have the pockets "pop" with their fav. character.

goo for you for volunteering :)

That was what I was going to do when DP was still going. I think that is a stellar plan.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I think half the fun will be delivering and seeing everyone's Fish Extenders.

I posted ours awhile ago, but since we're talking McQueen, here it is again...

You can find the list at the bottom of page one on this thread. It isn't finalized yet, but will give you a good idea. It won't be final until about a week or so before we set sail.

Hmmm you have to kdnap one of my magnets then...
There is no way that i'm going to post a picture....
It's a big suprise, you will understand it all when you see my FE....

I reckon there's a pic of the podacast crew on there :confused3

I need FE construction advice. My fabric is basically a calico weight. I have enough to do a double layer of it for the body and the pockets. Do you think I need to interline it with a heavier material? Both the body and the pockets? Just the body? I planned on doing a pleated pocket that is attached to the sides using a bias tape sort of arrangement. I am afraid if I line it with the heavier material that would make 2 layers of body, 2 layers of pocket, a layer of the bias tape, a layer of interlining, possibly 2 layers of interlining if I line the pockets. That would be a potential of 7 layers going through the sewing machine. I can here the machine screaming just thinking about it. I just don't want to have it coming apart during the cruise.

I wimped out and ordered one from ebay, so who am I to give advice? I can sew, I'm just lazy! The nice DISer who sewed mine used a layer of interfacing(appears to be iron on) between the two layers of fabric on the pockets, but it's not really that thick. As long as you aren't using denim or some other heavy duty fabric you should be just fine.

Kim,

I am only about half way through mine. I used a very heavy duty material for the body of mine. It is outdoor fabric, like a plastic. I used the same material as a backing for my pockets. It was alittle scary sewing though the folded part of the pockets. It was basically 4 layers of this really heavy fabric, but my machine made it. I am making mine 2 sided so when I put the bias tape around the outside I will have 4 layers of the heavy material plus the bias tape. It is going to be interesting. I will let you know how it goes.

I went JoAnn's tonight and bought the rest of the materials I need to construct my FE. It is a weekend project though, I think, unless the next two days are exceedingly slow.....I shall update once I have a change in status.:goodvibes
