Try it, you will like it. It is a very mild fish.

I'm not a big fish person, but I like cod a lot, it's very light tasting, and I love fish and chips! Try it, I'm sure you will like it if you like haddock!
if it tastes and smells very fishy then it should not be eaten .Fresh fish really has very little smell. This comes from my DBIL and he works with fish so he should know.
As a fellow brit we tend to used both haddock and cod and really unless you have very sensative taste buds you would not be able to tell the difference.
We eat fried haddock here in Western NY. The biggest difference I found with the cod is the texture. Haddock is flakier where I found the cod to be a bit rubbery. I honestly didn't care for it too much due to that, but I have a few texture issues anyway so you might not mind.
From what I understand, back in the day, haddock is what you would get up North in UK, and Cod is what you would get down South. It was what was locally fished.
I'm a Southerner, but I do actually prefer the Haddock, it is a bit tastier. The Epcot fish & chips are very good, though. Chips aren't quite right, but still good.
I had the fish&chips in June - hopefully it was just a bad day but it was terrible. I was very disappointed. The oil must have been old because they came out practically blackened.
