Thursday 8/14/03 dawned as bright and sunny.
I am a little worried about the weather today as there is a tropical "wave" passing over Florida today. Oh well, Mickey ponchos in the packs. Not gonna rain on my parade.
Ate a quick breakfast of poptarts/cereal in the room and off to the North Depot bus stop for EMH at MK. Got to the bus stop at 7:30 and bus came immediately. It was empty and we got a seat.
Proceeds to rest of bus stops where the crowd is waiting at the south depot ( why do people continue to use this bus stop??)
I squeeze my 6 year old on my lap to make room. I will never understand why people with small kids do not hold them on their laps so other people with small kids can have a seat. (OK, off my soapbox now) . On to Magic Kingdom!!! YAY!!
We get there about 7:50 and we breeze thru security (remember always go left: it really does work).
We wait at the turnstiles for the opening, we hear the music and voila we are in!
My best friend, Sue, cries as she takes her kids thru the gates. She is so happy to bring them here. (She was only there once when she was younger and only went to MK).
We decide our first ride has to be Buzz Lightyear and there is no wait. Sue and her DS age 12 ride Space and the rest of us head to TTA which the rest of the kids really enjoyed.
We then zip thru all of Fantasyland with hardly any waits at all. No lines were longer than 10 mins so we didn't bother with any FP. We even made it on Dumbo without a long wait. Of course, it rained off and on the whole time. Ponchos on, ponchos off. But we just went on. Most of the Fantasyland rides were inside.
We enjoyed a tasty lunch at the Pinocchio Haus restaurant that overlooks IASW. The salads were cool, refreshing and wonderful. The kids had hot dogs, burgers and DS had a Smucker uncrustable PB&J which was a big hit with him.
On to BTMR with about a 15 minute wait. They rode HM, but DS who said he was going to ride it this time decided to opt out when he saw the dark entrance. Bummer, I miss it!
We wait outside and it starts to pour down rain. It stops by the time they came out and they go on the Liberty Belle.
I take this time to go to the Christmas shop without DD to buy her a little surprise for our mother-daughter trip in Dec.
When they come back, I see DS is near meltdown.
DS and I go back to the room and he takes a 3 hour nap while I relax with a good book in the connecting room. (what a great thing these are.)
Sue and the other 3 kids continue to do all of Frontierland and Adventureland. They said it was quite manageble with FP.
They come back tired but happy and we decide to stay in and eat at Boatwrights for dinner. Food was very good, but service was a little slow. (BUt we were in no hurry). Had the ravioli with alfredo sauce, sue had crabcake appetizer and salad. All was good.
Stopped in River Roost lounge to listen to piano player, Bob Jackson. He plays Wed thru Sat 7 PM - 12 AM. He was wonderful!!! The kids loved him. He had all of the kids up on the stage dancing and then had them marching around the room. They talked about him for the whole trip. The kids were able to fill their refillable mugs at the food court and sit with them in the lounge. It was really enjoyable for both kids and adults. Even the 12 year old was marching all around the room to When the Saints Go Marching In. (this is the same kid who had a meltdown when we tried to make him ride Pooh )
We headed off to bed happy but tired. It was a really good day!!
