Not sure if this is the proper forum, BUT...

Does anyone have firsthand information on the WDW kennels? What are the hours? Can you reserve in advance when you book your room? What is the cost? Do each of the parks have a kennel?

I know that you need to return to walk the dog twice per day because that is the only way they will get a walk. If anyone can add to this info, I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!!:Pinkbounc

We had briefly considered taking our dog to Disney, but then changed our minds. However, in the process of deciding, I gathered up a lot of information, so here goes. There are several kennels at the Disney areas. One at Fort Wilderness. one at Epcot , another at the Transportation Center, one at MGM, and one at Animal Kingdom. You cannot reserve a kneenl space, it's first come, first served. Epcot has a walking area that appears to make it the nicest area. Although there are certain times listed for "visiting," there is a 24 hour security person at each kennel, and with identification, you can visit your pet any time, day or night. You can call each kennel individually-here is one number-407-824-6568.

The kennels aren't really kennels, they are more like crates, and not very big. You can bring your own dog food if you want, although dog food is provided. Your dog needs to have a record of his/her vaccines and needs a kennel cough shot-needs to be given about 4-6 weeks ahead of time.

Hope this helps.

Hi - I remember reading recently that the Epcot kennel now walks the dogs for you. You may want to call them to confirm this. I took my dog to Disney years ago and kept her in the kennel. It was very clean and the conditions were nice. We did have to walk the dog ourselves. The CM's were very friendly and appeared to be very nice to the animals.

My dog use to be a regular visitor to the Epcot kennel before I moved to the Orlando area so I have first hand knowledge. Oliver has stayed in the Epcot, MGM, and MK/TTC kennels. I prefer the Epcot because to me it has the biggest area for walking the dogs.

If you will be boarding your dog overnight, you they actually ask you to walk the dog three times, once in the morning, once in afternoon, and once at night. As someone stated the kennels are more like crates. Oliver is a small/medium size dog, but many times when it wasn't busy, they would put him in a larger crate.

You can either bring your own food or use theirs. I prefer to bring what the dog is use to..it cuts down on two many changes at once. Also you should bring some type of comfort toy for the dog. Another suggestion is to bring a sheet or some towels for the bottom of the crate. They will put a towel or two down, but that isn't much padding.

As was mentioned, the Epcot kennel has also instituted dog walking for a fee. If you don't want to go over in the middle of the day, you could probably use this option.

All in all, I like the WDW kennels. They are clean, the staff is friendly, security usually likes to go through a few times a night so the dogs have company, and since you walk your dog, you still get to see your pet (which to me is a plus).

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks for the info! I have a new puppy and she does not like to be alone. We live in FL and sometimes go over to WDW for one night or even the day - I want her to be close by.
Thanks again!!! :Pinkbounc
