First Year, First Trip With DSLR - More Added

Love reading your details and seeing the photos. I don't think I'll ever be a DSLR person, but I am planning on taking a lot more detail photos this summer at DL, and this was great inspiration!

Thank you for the comments mikamah and Brer Mama.

Groucho, I've taken your suggestions under advisement. :teeth:

Seriously, I've processed a bunch of non-Disney pictures in the last few days and I think, because of your suggestion, that I'm now looking at WB with a more critical eye. I do think it's somewhat subjective, but an awareness is always good. Thanks for that. (Of course now I'm looking at some pictures I did a couple of months ago and am not happy with them, :headache: but I guess it just comes with the territory, eh?)

:rotfl2: :lmao: No problem; as I said, WB is definitely a matter of taste!

I know that feeling - as I have said in the few threads, that is a great thing about shooting raw. I remember looking back at my photos from my first DSLR trip that I had posted and suddenly realizing that most all the night photos had brown skies! :sad2: That's what prompted me to go through the whole series again. Cleaning up the brown skies also made the other objects really much more vibrant and colorful. I am very thankful that I shot Raw for that trip!

Great job Linda!! I really enjoyed all the pics. Well done!! :thumbsup2

Now to plan the next trip....:scratchin

Groucho - you mention "cleaning up the brown skies". Exactly what was it you did in the post processing? Is that a white balance issue? I have quite a few pics from DL fireworks that look that way.

Yup, that's a white balance issue. Set your white balance to Tungsten and the brown skies will be replaced with a much more pleasing black or deep blue.

The unfortunate side effect with fireworks shots is that it often dulls the color of the fireworks, but that is easily fixed by boosting the saturation a little.

I'll give that a try - thanks!

Update:

I might add more pictures from time to time as I develop them.

Here are a couple I considered for the World Showcase photo contest. I had a hard time deciding which to go with.

Struggled with the WB here. :lmao:

Really like this one. British Invasion is one of my favorite things in WS. I liked the color of the sky combined with the flowers. (Probably should have gone with it.)

This could have been sharper. :headache:

Ultimately went with this one.

These (below) were more challenging than I imagined they would be using a dSLR.

I wasn't completely happy with the results - even though I had a lot of fun taking them! :dancer:
