So it appears that pirates will be down and no fireworks that weekend either. can anyone tell me if Holiday stuff will be up by then? Or anything that is totally exciting for that weekend. I need someone to convince me to go.

Well, I will be there on the 5th; I think that's exciting enough, lol.

I actually picked that weekend because I hoped the crowds would be lighter between the holiday seasons.

They'll be filming the holiday parade that weekend, so some of the decorations should be up. I'm not sure that them filming is a reason to go, though...from what I've read, it sounds like a bit of a hassle and not very interesting.

I'm hoping a lot of people corral around the parade and leave the lines for the rides shorter, tbh.

If it's low crowds you want, the crowds will definitely be lighter in between Halloween Time and the official start of the holiday season (11/14). No doubt about that.

If it's holiday decorations you're interested in, not all of the decorations will be up around DLR on the first weekend of November. Only some of them will be up. A couple of people have mentioned that certain holiday things on Main Street do not go up until after the parade is taped. There are way too many decorations all around the Resort (including both parks, all 3 hotels and DTD) for the stuff to be up by the first weekend in November. It goes up, a little at a time.

Also, there will be no official holiday entertainment happening on that first weekend - no Santa, no Reindeer Round-Up, no IASW Holiday, no carolers, no holiday fireworks, no Winter Castle icicle lighting at night, no snow falling on Main Street, etc.

Will you see some "snow" on the Castle? Yes. That will probably go up in late October. Will you see some holiday merchandise in the shops? Yes. Will you see some holiday-ish treats in the bake shops or candy stores? Probably. Will you see some decorations, like a random wreath or some garland here or there? Yes, there will be some. You may see some stuff in New Orleans Square. I'm not sure if Toontown will be decorated yet. Main Street won't be complete. The hotels will not be decorated. Downtown Disney will not be decorated. I'm not sure what's happening in DCA this year, with all the construction.

Also, Haunted Mansion Holiday will be open.

So if you want a trip that is lightER on crowds, with a little splash of the holidays thrown in (but not the full holiday experience), you will get it. It's off-season, before the holidays officially begin, so it will be a slower week.:thumbsup2

This will be the third time for us to visit at the end of Oct./beginning of Nov., although we usually leave on the 11/2 or 11/3. This year we are leaving on the 4th, and the only reason I give those dates is that we have been amazed how even overnight 10/31 to 11/1 how DL is able to take so many of the fall decorations down. When we went to the park on the 1st, we were shocked! There was still the occassional pumpkin, but not near as many.

The only place, as Sherry E. said, that we saw Christmas decor. was a little bit in New Orleans Square and some snow on the castle. Also as Sherry E. stated, you will find Holiday merchandise and treats in some of the shops.

I guess it depends on what you want. The crowds will be lighter, but the reason for that is because they are kind of in between seasons. Either way, you will be in DL, and that in itself is enough for me. I hope you have a wonderful time :goodvibes

Anyone know when they say what stars are there for the parade? Do they even release that info ahead of time or is kept pretty hush hush?

We were there for 11 days starting the day before Halloween last year and will be there again this year the same time period. It is definitely amazing how they get the majority of the Halloween decorations down overnight! I will say this though....if you have young children, the concert is definitely not worth watching/participating in. They do soooo many takes for such short coverage. The boys were four last October and were so burnt out after that experience that we didn't even stay for the parade.
