pirate: Is it me or are there really tons of people going the first weekend of dec?? I thought that was listed on the website as a slow time? We booked for those dates hoping for it to be slower--Any suggestions?

We booked that week for the exact same reason and are even planning on taking the kids out of school to avoid the crowds. I agree it really does seem like a lot of people are visiting that week:scared1:

Isnt that Pop Warner week?

I believe that is a week after the first week. It could be because of the taping if the Christmas Parade. We go Nov 30th thru Dec 6th:goodvibes
I hoping it is good vibes second time taking DS & DIL who the last time we took them made my life a nightmare :lmao: I laid some grounds rules this time if DH will go along with it :rotfl:

It is slower than most times at Disney. But if you are going with the thinking there will be NO lines anywhere and empty parks, you will probably be disappointed.Disney has done an excellent job with their marketing, and as a result more people tend to try and take advantage of these "off" times. The parks will still be quite manageable with very pleasant temperatures. But probably not empty.Go enjoy, and don't stress.

The Christmas parade is usually taped the first weekend in Dec. and MANY people go just for that. MK will be a zoo Friday, Saturday and Sunday that weekend. Also it's the very beginning of Pop Warner week and alot of people will be checking in on Sat.

This time of year used to be great years ago - all the Christmas decorations out and shows galore, but word has gotten out and it's no longer "quiet". Granted it's not anything like the week of Christmas, but it's alot busier just the same.

Have a great trip!! :goodvibes

Disney has done a nice job of marketing and last year was more crowded than I can recall and this year should be more of the same. great weather, holiday activities, looks lik eall of December will be packed.

We went last year at that time. I don't think there are any more times at Disney with really low crowds. However, we found everything was manageable using fastpasses and getting to the parks early. I'd suggest AVOIDING the MK on that Saturday if they are filming the Christmas parade. It was a miserable zoo. We were stuck on the train for 45 minutes!! You couldn't walk down Main Street (you had to walk through the stores instead.)
