Can someone please tell me about it - typical hours, crowds, entertainment, fireworks, etc. We have 6 day hoppers to use. And, Haunted and Space are open right? Those are DD5's fav rides, we have to ride them each at least 4x a day when we are there.

We were supposed to go after Thanksgiving as we normally do, but DH can't go then this year :(, so I'm trying to plan for another time.

both hunted and space will be ghost galaxy space mountain and hunted mansion holiday. Also first week is when we are going. sep30-oct 4th

oct 2ed is the Halloween party so if you dont get tickets for it the park will close at 5 or 6 and you will have to go to dca. The party is also on Fridays.

The entertainment im not to 100% sure about. Fantasmic will be on sat and sun from what ive been told. woc should be every night.
You will have parades in dca and dl but only at the Halloween party will you have the Halloween Cascades parade.

hours will be shorter and no fireworks on week days except the party. One weekends sat and sun i think normal fire works will be going on.
hours will be 8-9am-8-10pm normal days

There is an oct calendar here on the dis boards that show last years schedule I don't have the link but im sure some one will post it .

gay days also happens the first weekend of Oct thats not to bad. I have been their at that time and never noticed the crowd levels and just so you know its not all gay like. I barely could tell the gay day ppl from the regular ppl (nothing against gays im trying to give her all the info not be mean or anything to those who are)

also first week of oct is az school brake one reason we are going +my sons bday so good timing)

II hope you have a good time

Thank you JadeDarkStar!! That was really helpful!! That first week is Hawaii's break from school also. Now to cross my fingers on some good airfare. But I'm also looking at the first week of Nov., but I think things will be down for the Christmas holiday setup ??

Thanks again!

We were there from a Sun-Fri during the first week of Oct. last year. Sunday was great, I think it was open until 10pm or later. Monday and Friday were Halloween party days, so DL closed at 6 Monday and 7 Friday. Tuesday it also closed at 6 for a Microsoft private party. Wed. it closed at 8 and I think Thursday it closed at midnight? I can't remember completely. The crowds were decent and managable. Fireworks only happened on Sunday. Fantasmic played Sunday and Thursday. I know rehabs happen during this timeframe. California Screamin' and Pirates of the Carribbean were closed while we were there :( We also had one day (I think it was Thursday, might have been Wednesday) that there was a terrible rain storm. We can stick out the rain at WDW just fine because it is still so hot, but we couldn't do it at DL this day. We were not prepared with any warm weather clothes (had capris but not long pants) It was about 55 degrees and pouring SO hard, so that took a big chunk out of our day. That night after the storm was great, though. The parks were empty and all the rides were basically walk on. I think that type of rain is not typical for the first week in Oct., though.

This year we are trying the first week in Dec. I am looking forward to the Christmas decorations!

Airfare went down, wahoo!!! Tickets on hold for a couple days!! :)

What do you all think, we want to go for 6 days, would including the last weekend of Sept. be better or the first weekend of October? Do you think there will be much of a difference? or which days should we pick? We plan on getting to CA on the 9/26 and leaving 10/9, we have family there :)

Thank you!!!!

Be aware of the Halloween parties in DL which means early park closing on those nights. Also, I know you say Space is your 5 yr old's favorite, but the Ghost Galaxy is much spookier. They aren't nice Haunted mansion ghosts....more like evil, scary alien ghosts.

Do the ghosts make noise? hummm, I'll have to go do a youtube video on this one. But as long as she can do Haunted, we are good I think :) Thanks big time for the heads up :) really appreciate it!!!

Don't forget to wear RED :goodvibes

lol i guess im lucky the third is the last day in the park for us, but ya i forgot about the wear red part lol

The first and second weeks of October are our secret weeks to go to Disneyland!
Many guidebooks say its the slowest, and so we planned both trips in those time frames.

There were very short lines, and the weather is great! Even the big, important, fancy, classic rides were pretty quick to get through the lines.
Fastpass like crazy and you are sure to get around just fine!
