First week of May is so slow

Many people in Fl graduating this weekend. Touring Plans popped up on my phone 1st thing this morning. I opened it up and checked crowds for this weekend. It had a 6 out 10, I am thinking I am going to see if Hubby and the girls want to go this weekend. Then I remembered DD is Graduating this weekend! I am trying to put it out of my mind since she is moving to Kentucky at the end of the month! :(

We will be there for 2 weeks beginning Friday. Early May is a great time to go, but crowds may be even lower than usual because of the opening of Pandora later in the month. I know of 2 families that planned on traveling earlier in May and pushed back their trip to see Pandora.

It was not raining this morning when I saw the photos. The park was literally empty. It looked closed. I have never seen it like that.

Like Hiro stated above, many were probably already seeking shelter. That was the first thing that came to mind waiting out the storm in the WL lobby around 10:30 am. It's a very welcome sight since FL desperately needs the rain.

Or perhaps the MK was just dead this morning. I know we've met several who are here for one last Wishes, including locals, so it's possible that the crowd level this May could be an exception.

We love going this time of year! We're traveling with extended family this time, so had to push it ahead a week. We will arrive May 13. Cant wait!

Only because it's raining today. It was insane on Sat and pretty busy yesterday.
Saturday was Dapper Day and was a special circumstance.
And I can't speak for the daytime crowds, but I made it through the Starbucks line in under 15 minutes in the early evening and rode Space with a posted time of 15 minutes. It's been several weeks since I've seen Monday evenings with wait times like that

Saturday was pretty busy. I'll probably go this weekend to check it out

I'm heading to WDW May 12-16 for the AP pandora preview on the 15th.
I'm thinking it's going to be busy, because I couldn't get a room at any of the Values.
They were all booked when I made my reservations last month.

I think this was because of the rain first thing in the morning. It's the large group competitions at espn time of year so there will be pockets but they will show up in the parks as well...

One big reason could be that many kids in public schools are testing for much of the month of May. Our testing started Monday and will go all of this week and next week. State mandated End of Course tests and AP tests are in full swing. It is one of if not THE toughest times of the year for teachers and students to be out of the classroom. As soon as state mandated testing is over, then we review for final exams and give/take final exams.

I keep thinking I need to quit my job and homeschool my children so I can visit Disney in the lower crowd times, but strangely DH does not think that is a good enough reason to drastically change our lifestyle. :confused3:blush:

Yesterday sure felt crowded to me! Today wasn't as bad, but it rained on and off this morning. Both days at MK. We are heading back over for wishes tonight, and hope it won't be too bad.

And if you gauge crowd levels by diners, it's been very light. CM friend helped out a fellow CM and was at Chef Mickey's this morning. The characters, at times, didn't need to be out for their complete onstage times because they had met all the diners in the designated area. Some sections were only 1/2 full.

We met at Kona at 1:00, 30 minutes early because the Chef Mickey CMs were released early. Even though we were 30 minutes early for our Kona ADR, we were seated immediately and multiple tables were empty. We noted the same scenario at Tiffins for dinner on Sunday - 1/2 the tables were empty. Our Kona and Tiffins servers only had 3 tables each.

I have. We were there just after 9/11. Weirdest feeling riding on Dumbo looking over an empty park. Definitely the exception and not the norm though.

Hoping that it stays the same for next week-I'll be in MK next Tuesday :yay:

We wil be there Thursday. Hoping for low crowds, but if resort availability is any indication (values all booked up), it probably won't happen. Maybe after the Wishes finale and Mother's Day weekend it will die down until Memorial Day weekend...

Agreed...Disney Springs was dead today when DH and I headed over in the middle of the torrential rain at about 11am (had been raining for ~ 45 mins or so by that time). When we left Disney Springs at 330 after the rain had ended for an hour or so, it was its typical busy self (us and 2 other couples on the bus on the way way over; standing room only on the way back). Overall, I would say crowds are average...100+ minute waits for FEA and Test Track, 90+ for Splash, no same day FPs for all the usual rides, etc.
