First week of May - Crowds

Hi and :welcome: to the DIS!

May crowds are on the low side of moderate. Weekends are busier than weekdays. You can expect the major attractions to have relatively long waits, but the attractions that are not as popular will have short waits to possibly no wait, especially first thing in the morning.

Enjoy your trip!

Crowds won't be a problem for me as long as they stay out of my way!! :rotfl:

Seriously though, there is a lull between the Spring Break session and the start of summer crowds. However, that can all change in a heartbeat. DW says we are going to relax this trip, so if the crowds start getting to us, we'll just chill at the resort pool for a while.

I usually go to WDW every year the first or second week of May, then sometime in Sept, and then the first or second week of Dec. May is usually more crowded than Sept, but not as crowded at Dec. In other words very manageable. Love bugs may be out, but if so they're usually not as bad as they are in Sept. The weather is usually nice. Saying all of that, I didn't realize when I booked our April 30th-May 8th trip that Easter came so late this year. With Easter being the weekend before, I have to admit I am just a tad concerned about the crowds this year.

I'm so glad we decided to go during the first week in May instead of the last week in April, as originally planned. Without the DIS, we wouldn't have known any better. :cool1:

We went end of April, first week of May in 2008. From my experience crowds were pretty heavy. I remember I swore off going early May because of that experience. Just have a good touring plan, get to the parks early, use Fastpass and you should be fine, though.

We were there lasy May for the 1st week and found it to be really busy. We were kind ofsurprised because we have been at that time before and found the crowds really light. We even convinced our friends that had never been to go at that time and I felt bad because it was so busy. They have the dining plan going on and with late Easter, I am scared what this year will be:scared1:

We are going then too, but will not be there on a weekend. We are bracing for at least moderate crowds due to the Flower Festival at Epcot.

In the past, early May was a pretty good bet crowd-wise; not so much anymore. ;). We will be pleasantly surprised if the opposite happens! :thumbsup2

We'll be there May 2-6, so no weekend. We might do one day at Epcot, but the four of us grown-ups plan to just really enjoy OKW and maybe visiting some other resorts. We were there for Christmas week, so crowds don't scare us anymore:thumbsup2

We went last year and did not find the crowds to be bad at all. We have an early riser though, so were there for rope drop. Going again this year from May 4-10th, hoping it will be ok. It is the week after Easter Break so I am hoping for a lull.

we go that time every year, and will again this.
the weather is gorgeous - the best of any time of year, imho.
the crowds are low to mid...there will be occassional crowds, but nothing like the busy times.

the beginning of may is our favorite:cloud9:

Going May 3-10...hoping for good weather and low crowds.

IMO, I think no matter what time of year you go, there will always be crowds...our last visit was first week of May 2008...astonished to see how many parents with children were there!
