We have always gone during the "off seasons" - beginning of December, January - mid-February, September -- times like that. But, I'm now to the point where I'm thinking pulling my 9 year old out of school so much isn't the best thing in the world. (Teachers have always worked with us, but 2 times a year is a bit much -right?)

Anyway, this year, her spring break is the first week of April. Will it just be too much of a shock to me with the crowds, etc.? Should I wait until fall and just do once a year? DH only comes on about every 4th trip (he just doesn't get it, but he's a great guy). So it would be just me and DD.

We're from Michigan and the Farmer's Almanac says Winter snows will go into April this year -- we need a break!

Would appreciate thougths from anyone who cares to comment.

Thank you my friends!

That's a very busy time of the year. I've never been to WDW then, but I know that Unviersal is packed. Since this would be a second trip for the year can you plan a long weekend so you are not pulling her out of school a whole week? Something would be bettter than nothing.

Yes, it is a very busy time, but you can still enjoy yourselves. Get to the parks early, do a mid-day break & then go back to the parks after your break.

We have gone during the Easter break the last few years & will be back again this year at that time. The weather is usually great at that time of year so you can really enjoy the resort pools and water parks.

Believe me, you'll have fun no matter when you go. ::yes::

I'll be there for the first time during Easter week too. I'm planning on exactly what you're doing Melsmice. I did my first summer trip last year and used the same strategy. I figure in the mornings we'll hit the big rides and when we go back to the parks in the evenings maybe we'll hit a couple of typically less busy attractions, but mostly we'll be there for the evening entertainment and to enjoy the Disney magic! :wizard: I have to say this makes it feel more like a vacation than commando style touring!!!:earseek:

BTW-Just made my last PS too, I don't want to risk not being able to sit down for dinner.

My daughter and I are taking our first trip to WDW during the first week of April. It was that week, or during the hot summer time. I'm a teacher and she's in first grade, and April 5-9 is our spring break. I've heard it's busy, but we're just happy to be going after saving money for a long time!
As for pulling your child out of school, I would say it depends on how much time you're talking about. As a teacher (15 years), I obviously value education and want my students (5th graders) to be in class as much as possible. However, I also highly value family time, and feel that many of my students suffer from not getting enough of it these days. Childhood passes all too quickly, and life is short. Make special memories while you can. As long as you can work with the teacher (some parents don't show that respect) to help your child keep up, I say do it!
