how are the rates, crowds and weather the first week in december? can't wait to go again

I've gone twice in December and it is my favorite time to go. Try for sometime in the first 21/2 weeks of Dec. All the x-mas decorations are up (which are awesome) and the crowds are light. I believe it is value season during that time at most of the hotels. The weather, in my experience, has been great-cool at night and 70-75 during the day. My kids have always gone swimming but we haven't bothered with the water parks. For an added treat try Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party. It will get you in the wdw holiday spirit. The parks do close early at this time of year(except for MVMCP which you need a separate ticket for) but since the crowds are thin you have more than enough time to get on all the rides and see the shows. Waiting in line is minimal for the most part(usually not more than 5-15min) Good luck with your trip plans.

We went dec 99 and are going the week after you this year. You need a jacket in the evening, but all the pools are heated so you can swim anytime. You definitely don't want to miss MVMCP. We were at the CBR and only 400 of the 2000 rooms were rented. Make sure you are at the parks First thing in the morning. You will be practically alone and can be mostly done by 1pm. Then, hotel for a nap or swim, dinner and Fantasmic or Epcot to end the day. My wife says that as thin as the crowds are, she doesn't want to go at any other time. Best of luck

We have learned the 2nd Monday after Thanksgiving is a great week. The park is less crowded. We only had rain one time in 7 or 8 trips at that time of year. The Parks and Resorts are all decked out for the Holidays. The crowds were hardly noticeable. There were a couple of cold nights. Other than that, it is a great Time to be in WDW.

I AGREE!! WE HAD A GREAT TIME AT WDW DEC 2000. WE ALSO WENT DURING THE FIRST WEEK. EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFULLY DECORATED FOR THE HOLIDAYS!! DON'T MISS MVMCP!! ALSO MAKE YOUR WAY OVER TO WILDERNESS LODGE AND CHECK OUT THE DECORATIONS & ATMOSPHERE!!

As they said the crowds are low, so shorter park hours are not a problem....the weather is changeable to say the least..In 98 and 99 we wore our shorts all the time and swimming was possible..in Dec 2000 there was a cold spell that week there and we were in sweat shirts the whole week...so you have to pack for both warm and cold weather and unfortuanately you cannot definitely plan on swimming or water parks....
