First week in April?

We are thinking of going to DL the first week in April since we won’t have any child care available that week so we will have to take time off work anyway. This is Spring Break for a lot of schools, so I am wondering how bad it gets? I honestly find DL to be crowded every time I go. I’ve tried going mid-week in the “off-season” and it was still packed. Will it be completely intolerable then? Thanks for any input.

Are you thinking of going next year (2018)? Easter is on April 1 and, based on the AP blockout calendar, DLR expects the peak Spring Break season crowds to be there from the week before through the week after Easter (3/24-4/8, roughly). I don't think/expect that there will be capacity level crowds, but it will be quite busy.

I haven't heard of a lot of event in April of 2018 yet, but when I do, I'll add them to the 2018 Calendar (https://www.disboards.com/threads/2018-calendar-of-events-school-breaks-and-dlr.3635162/). smartlabelprint gave you the link to the 2017 thread (thank you!), which will help you get a sense of what happened around Easter time this year.

Thanks your input. Yes we were thinking about 2018. Do you think the AP blackouts might help to reduce the crowds a bit? We aren’t AP holders ourselves.

The old thought was that DLR typically imposed AP blockouts on days when they felt like there would be enough non-AP holders coming to the parks. There is some indication that AP blockouts, plus peak one-day pricing, may reduce crowds, but I think it's somewhat random whether the crowds are just high or extremely high during that period. You can look through the April 2017 check-in thread to see what folks said about early April this year (the AP blockouts were for the first two weeks in April).
